Over on WOS there's a recurring article where someone (I've usually not heard of) lists their top five show tunes. Are they instructed to choose the most obscure songs or what? Most of the songs I have never heard of either... And I'd like to think I know a little bit about musicals. Obviously nowhere near enough. What's wrong with Heaven on their Minds, I Dreamed a Dream, Being Alive, Memory and Anthem? All right, all right, they are performed time and time again but...
No showing off (listing the most obscure songs from obscure musicals) now.
The Top Five?

Very difficult! So much depends on mood.
Overture/The Children of the Sky (Hunting of the Snark)
Waiting and Hoping (Napoleon)
Maybe This Time (Cabaret)
For Good (Wicked)
My Time of Day/I've Never Been in Love Before (Guys and Dolls)
Honorable mention also to The School Song (Matilda), for having the most amazing lyrics despite not being my favourite tune.
And I already want to change my mind to somehow also include Gethsemane!

Very good question, caiaphas. Going by songs I've most often listened to, removing duplicate songs and ignoring the one non-musical song in there, that's, that'd be my Top 5 show tunes according to my iTunes Top 25 playlist: 1, Memphis Lives In Me 2, Steal Your Rock'n'Roll 3, Radio 4, Everybody Wants To Be Black On A Saturday Night 5, Cool Rider However, after spending some more thoughts on this topic, I'd come up with these instead (in no particular order): Memphis Lives In Me from Memphis Proud Of Your Boy from Aladdin If I Can't Love Her from Beauty and the Beast Don't Forget Me from Bombshell/Smash So Much Better from Legally Blonde

I actually struggled to put these in order...
1. Being Mrs Banks - Mary Poppins OLC (Linzi Hateley) 2. As If We Never Said Goodbye - Sunset Boulevard (Glenn Close) 3. Someday - Hunchback of Notre Dame (American Cast) (Although I do love the epicness of the German cast recording, but the American one wins as I don't speak a word of German) 4. Shall We Dance - King and I (prefer the 2015 Broadway Cast) 5. You Will Not Touch Him/This Is The Hour - Miss Saigon

'A Handbag?' from Ernest In Love (Lee Pockriss' score is to diiiiiiiiiie for!) But top of the list is 'Elisabeth, Open Up My Angel' from Elisabeth das Musical! an Austrian musical based on the life of Empress Elisabeth of the Austro-Hungarian empire. But you knew that of course.

I'm ridiculously ignorant about musical theatre, so this is a pretty limited list.
I Believe: Book of Mormon. The Smell of Rebellion - Matilda. Luck be a Lady - Guys and Dolls Memory - Cats. Take Back Your Mink - Guys and Dolls.

1. Helpless - Hamilton 2. I Could Write a Book - Pal Joey 3. Wait For It - Hamilton 4. Unworthy of Your Love - Assassins 5. Champagne - In the Heights
Lady's Maid from Titanic and The World Will Know from Newsies were both close too.

If I were just to go for the five I am currently listening to most often, it's probably:
1. Colored Woman - Memphis 2. She Used To Be Mine - Waitress 3. I Can Do Better Than That - The Last Five Years 4. I Will Prevail - Wonderland 5. You Haven't Seen The Last Of Me - Burlesque
But if I were to choose an all time top five that would be completely different and would require a lot more thought!

Is there a recording of Lyn Paul in Blood Brothers?

Sadly not although I know many people have asked her to record it. It does mean I try to see it on tour whenever Lyn Paul's in it as, for me, she's the ultimate Mrs J. I think the Jack the Ripper cd release recently was perhaps the most excited I've ever been for a recording as I love the show and it again had always meant getting to any productions near me to hear the songs!

Difficult choice but today I came up with these five songs.
Anything Can Happen - Mary Poppins Comedy Tonight - A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum Someone Else's Story - Chess The Ladies Who Lunch - Company Oklahoma! - Oklahoma!
It will probably be totally different next week.

Almost like being in love - Brigadoon Tap - The Ballad of Little Mikey (top marks to anyone else who knows this show...) Being Alive - Company You're Nothing Without Me - City of Angels I'd Do Anything for Him - Kiss of the Spiderwoman
Not sure if that is really my top 5 - but it is a cross-section of some tunes/shows I really love
