Prunella Scales and Timothy West both looking great getting their half time wine at Ocean at the end of the Lane tonight. Lovely. I was thinking of them the other week at Moulin Rouge, as it was the first time I'd been to the Piccadilly since seeing both of them there in a very good production of The Birthday Party in 1999.

Pretty sure I saw Emma Thompson at the Duke of Yorks for The Ocean at the End of the Lane last night, though difficult to be certain with masks.

Carrie Hope Fletcher was at The Addams Family tonight. Only spotted her on the way out but she seemed lovely and very approachable.

The first time I saw Dame Edna, I sat in front of Sondheim. I was so focused on what he was laughing at, I couldn’t even concentrate on Edna.

Sondheim at a Dame Edna show sounds like a lot of fun! I had a similar experience last year when I went to the cinema and Sutton Foster was sat behind me.

My after dinner story is 1978 Liza at the London Palladium. Woman sits in front of me and drapes her fur coat over the back of her seat but half of it is over my legs. I tap her on the shoulder to ask her to move it. Ingrid Bergman!!!!!

Helena Bonham Carter and her partner were sitting on my right when I saw The Normal Heart at the National. After the play had finished I pulled her aside and told her how much I loved her performance in The Wings of the Dove.

Sadly it wasn’t Tim Burton (I’m a huge fan of his work). It was her most recent partner, Rye Dag Holmboe. I think she broke up with Tim a good number of years ago.

After the play had finished I pulled her aside and told her how much I loved her performance in The Wings of the Dove. Reading this and had me like, we need a Helena and Ben Daniels reunion!! That is, outside of The Crown. (Of course they played Princess Margaret and Lord Snowdon in the show and Ben was the star of The Normal Heart recently) Though I’m more biased towards a Ben and Olivia Colman reunion and I’d love them to pair up for real onscreen or onstage.
