Had Boris Johnson at the Bridge yesterday for Julius Caesar. What was bizarre was that I literally bumped him as I walked past and there was no sign of any security with him...Isn't that a bit strange for such a high profile politician? Not really. As long as he stays clear of the Russian Tea Room and Zizzi.

Paul Jones of 'Catatonia' fame (younger 90s kids will remember) at the Sherman last night. Less exciting for me as he's my former boss' partner. However my plus-1 is possibly still the biggest Catatonia fan around so she had an exciting night.

Rick Stein at Fanny & Alexander, we passed on the stairs - I didn't mention that I'd once had a rank supper at his shop in Padstow.

Well. All the big names were out at 'Lady Windermere's Fanny' this afternoon. Matt Lucas (bald), Paul Whitehouse (not bald) and cake chef Eric Lanlard (hot). I'd certainly let him frost my cupcakes.

Mark Gatiss and Ian Hallard at The Inheritance whom my Mum just reunited after watching Gatiss search for him in vain for a good five minutes in the crowded bar...while I waited for the ground to swallow me up.
Also Ian McKellan earlier. Have not spotted his return yet.

Charles Dance was at the Hampstead Theatre last night for 'Caroline, or Change' wearing a nice roll neck jumper. Not surprised really, it was quite chilly last night.

^ He was wearing that to JCS in Regents Park the summer before last! (Still managing to look a 70s luvvie in it though, and it was bloody cold there as well.)

Ryan darling more importantly *I* was at the Hampstead the night before and you were not. A travesty. We could have sipped a G&T and judged people...

Simon Russell Beale at the Park theatre this afternoon for Pressure. Appeared to be sitting upstairs in the cheap seats! Many dreamy-eyed onlookers but nobody had the courage to speak to him (including me). Made my afternoon to see him though.

I always imagine Ryan and Emily sat there and someone goes "Ohh there goes a major star" to which Ryan replies "I'll decide that thanks darling" and then goes off an writes some more graffiti about Em in the gents.

Best I’ve managed at the Park theatre is Christopher Biggins at What Shadows last year. Not exactly in the same league as SRB.

Ben Kingsley at The Secret Theatre at the SWP tonight. Dave Hill (the actor not the guitarist from Slade!) at Young Marx this afternoon. Have to confess although I recognised him straight away I didn't actually know his name! Saw Dave Hill again at The Bridge for Julius Caesar again this afternoon!

Saw John Bird of Big Issue fame at the Moderate Soprano. Shook his hand, like me he prefers a firmly shook hand and I think my firmness gained his knowing nod. I walked off muttering '...never meet your heroes...' which gained a smile that definitely met his approval.

This is really bugging me... Last night at Kith and Kin at The Bush there was a striking looking actor who I've seen in a few productions over the years (many NT I think.) He was tallish, in his 70s I would think, with long white hair and full white beard. He was a dead ringer for Gandalf or Lear (definitely not McKellan or David Weston, though!) Any ideas who it could be? Having just watched him in The Durrels I can confirm it was... James Cosmo (phew! that's been bugging me for months.)

‘Famous people at Chicago press night tonight included Kate Garraway, Terry Gilliam, John Barrowman and Ore Oduba. And Cuba Gooding Jr - yes I know he’s in the cast but would have been better off on the other side of the safety curtain.

Matt Lucas at the Union Theatre for Twang this afternoon.
I was happy to assist with his entrance before the show.
