So this random thought popped into my head regarding profile pics.
Of course this is only on a voluntary basis but what I am proposing is that if possible, everyone changes their existing profile image to a photograph of themselves. This need only be for a limited time, maybe for a week or so.
I currently have a profile picture of myself, as does Ali and WestEndCub
Over my time of this board I have met WestEndCub, BurlyBeaR, Annick, Ryan and Dan who are all extremely friendly and have communicated with others.
But I know of occasions where I have been at a show that others have been at and were not aware of each others presence. In one case, this person was but one seat away.
From reading your posts this has clearly happened to others as well.
So, if we all took the time to post a photo of ourselves, at least if our paths cross, you can say hello.
What does everyone think?

I'd rather not do that I'm afraid. I'd be happy to meet a lot of the people on this board, but not all. I guess it's the tone of certain posters in recent weeks that have put me off (coupled with horrible previous online experiences).

No, perfectly understandable.
As I say, it's purely voluntary and regardless of your reasons, these should be respected.
It's just a suggestion.

I used to have my photo up on the old Board and a lot of the people on here still recognise me from that. The trouble with my photos is generally I edit them with lighting, blemish etc to make me look a bit more presentable than in person because I don't like my skin and certain parts of my face so where I can, I edit. So may not even make a difference as I don't know if you would recognise me in person

Your post should have come with a 'chest hair and pout' warning.

Your post should have come with a 'chest hair and pout' warning. It's a gift, it's gained me many opportunities!

If anyone wants to post a link to their Facebook or Instagram then that's one way of showing your faces. If you don't do the social media thing but would like to "show and tell" you can put a pic in this thread but will need to do it via a photo hosting site. It's very easy, I use Postimage.org so will use that as my example.
Go to Postimage.org Click Choose Images and follow the onscreen instructions to upload your photo. The website will give you a selection of web addresses. Choose the one called direct link - in other words right-click to copy it. Come back to the forum and hit the reply button (You need the full reply, not quick reply!) At the top of the reply box click the little button which is in between the 'mail' button and the forward arrow button. It looks like a square with a zig-zag line across it. Paste the web address from Postimage.org into the box which appears. Click Insert Image. This will put the web address into your post. Type the rest of your post and save it as usual.
Sounds long winded but it's not after you've done it a couple of times. Bear in mind that once you've done this you've published your image on the www both here, and also on the postimage website so if you don't want that, don't do it!
Some of the mobile forum apps allow you to post a pic on this forum without going through the above faff. I think tapatalk does.

I am one of these annoying people who always use their own photos as user pictures and takes lots of selfies Also I will definitely like if you all say hi because of your cute accents, so please do! (In London starting tomorrow, would love to meet for drinks and discussing theatres!)

My pic is of me but it is a portrait painted by my partner. Haven't lived in th UK for many years but visit quite often and am always at the theatre either in London or Stratford upon Avon. Please say hello if you recognise me.

I'd be happy to meet people in person and share a photo beforehand so that you'd recognize me but other than that, I HATE photos of myself as I usually look awful in them and you couldn't force me to take a selfie at gunpoint.

I have to say I do love your current avatar. Every time you contribute to a thread it gives the impression that you're unutterably disappointed in everyone above you.

And in my case you need to look out for someone in a nice hat who accidentally came out without his skin.

I've taken up the challenge. The swans are gone. 2 people have been kind enough to message me over the past year when we've been going to the same show, and both times it was a lovely experience.
