As an early festival 2024 announcement or outside of festival? I’m afraid I don’t know - I literally got a WhatsApp from a friend who works in theatre as they know I love the show, I posted it here. Just hope it’s true, I love this production. they don't normally announce their season until the year of, so i'd be surprised if they went for this one now

No announcement yet...
And CFT would usually tease that something is being announced before doing so, surely?
It would seem a bit odd to have this appearing before the start of the next season (usually late March/April) because the weather wouldn't be ideal for the outdoors stuff.

I'm pretty sure they have announced shows before in advance of the February festival announcement. But it is rare

Email from the Watermill yesterday stated they’d had over 17000 audience members come to see this. A phenomenal result for this tiny theatre. Well done .

Maybe the Watermill will bring it back next summer?

Maybe the Watermill will bring it back next summer? With how successful it was, I wouldn't be surprised if this is on the cards. Could potentially bring in more interest before transferring?

If you look at the recent adverts for Watermill jobs, reading between the lines I see this returning for an extended run in more than one theatre. If I was a betting man I'd say (in no particular order) Watermill, Chichester, Regent's Park.

They’ve certainly come back fighting from losing their ACE funding…

I would love to get the chance to see this production again. Whether that means making another trip down to Newbury or elsewhere, I'd be more than happy to do so! Here's hoping it pops up again somewhere.

Regent’s Park would be perfect on a warm summer’s evening, no matter what if back in the Watermill I will be there.

If this is returning I hope they add at least one or two swings. There's nothing worse than trekking all the way to Newbury from Scotland and getting told that it's cancelled. They had to cancel a lot of performances last time around...

I expect if they move to a new/bigger venue they'd need a bigger cast either way.

Regents Park, announcement tomorrow. Very exciting! In the same way there was going to be a CET announcement a couple of Fridays ago?

Regents Park would totally be ideal! I wonder how they'd do the indoor sections? Perhaps, as someone on here may have already suggested, build an indoor theatre?

The heather is what gives me doubt on it being LOTR. Its not very LOTR so would be an odd choice for the artwork

The heather is what gives me doubt on it being LOTR. Its not very LOTR so would be an odd choice for the artwork I agree (though I've zoomed in and can't tell if it is actually heather) - the two things that hint at LOTR are the "shire" type feel and the shimmery glittery foreground objects which hint at the projections used in Newbury. But those foreground objects could also be highland midges... :-) That said, the image doesn't evoke either LOTR or Brigadoon that much for me, so they are either teasing us all or need better stock images! I hope it's LOTR as I think of the two it would by far be the more interesting choice, but I am also horribly biased.

I actually think they could just do a bigger version of what they did in Newbury but with a wider expanse of stage, perhaps with a canopied section for the indoor elements.

Sorry! I wasn’t suggesting it’s definitely going to Regent’s Park just referencing the teaser released for the announcement tomorrow.

Watch it just be The Sound Of Music.

The flowers do look like The Heather on the Hill. But I wouldn't bank on it being Brigadoon as much as I would love to see a big revival of one of my favourite scores.

Watch it just be The Sound Of Music. Actually I’d be fine with this, another chance to see Gina Beck in the wonderful Chichester production would be very welcome!
