EDIT: How do you you get two quotes into a post on this board?
On desktop: on the first reply click drop down arrow next to the "i" in the box button on the top right hand corner (furthest button to the right) and click "Select Post", do the same on the second reply (and any others if you're doing more than 2) then at the bottom of the page under the Quick Reply box, click the "Reply" button on the black bar and the quotes you have selected should appear ready to add in your text. On mobile: Same principle, except click the cog button on the right hand side of the first reply then "Select Post", then on the 2nd reply (or last reply if doing more than 2) click the "Quote" button they should appear ready to add in your text.

Tina is no longer selling the upper circle from March. I really don’t think it has long left to run. I agree especially with the UK and Ireland tour coming up which will eat into its already low sales. My guess is it'll announce closure in early 2025. What else do we think is likely to shut after Christmas?

It is worth noting also that the West End has lost the greatest theatre in the world the London Palladium as a theatre for open runs, I wonder when the ENO move out of the London Coliseum (not a good thing) if that will hold open runs again? I've heard multiple things about it, ranging from that it could become a place like TRDL that hosts big blockbusters for a year (not open runs, but instead like Gatsby which is going to be a dry run for the kind of shows that could play) or it could function as it does in the off-season/summer shows with touring arts groups like the ENB or touring opera companies circling in and out or hosting international tours of shows that require the surtitles (like Spirited Away, Notre Dame de Paris, etc.)
The ENO will still own the Coliseum though, and there will be ENO productions there, but it's likely seasons will stop and the majority of the shows in the Coliseum will be from other companies using the space. They'll become more of a theatre operator in London compared to Manchester which will be the new base of operations and where the proper ENO seasons will play. We'll just likely get transfers from there to here.
It's definitely not been decided yet. Last person I spoke to said it's all up in the air as it's still a while until 2029 and they're being open to ideas -- I want the ENO to stay as is but at the same time I'd love some glorious larger-than-life shows playing that great big stage. It needs shows with the scale and spectacle that will sell it out, though. If Hello Dolly flopped at the Palladium a show like that would be eviscerated at the Colesium.

Wait, I thought the highest grossing entertainment of all time was Phantom? Or has LK overtaken it now? The Lion King is at $8.2bn globally, Phantom is $6.06bn followed by Wicked at $5bn, Disappointing!

Wicked, Six, Book of Mormon and Harry Potter have certainly overstayed their welcome as far as I am concerned and I would be happy to see them done away with and replaced by something of higher quality..........one can only dream 😆

I agree with Harry Potter. Unfortunately, the brand name alone will probably keep it chugging along for a while. Wicked needs a MAJOR refresh or to just close as a courtesy, its not in good shape atm. Book of Mormon has probably had its run too. But, at the same time, the long runners are good for reasons stated above so... I'm conflicted

I agree with Harry Potter. Unfortunately, the brand name alone will probably keep it chugging along for a while. Wicked needs a MAJOR refresh or to just close as a courtesy, its not in good shape atm. Book of Mormon has probably had its run too. But, at the same time, the long runners are good for reasons stated above so... I'm conflicted Harry Potter is weirdly the one I think deserves to stay. The stagecraft is only rivalled by Stranger Things and they have also been updating the script (several times now) to keep it fresh and improve the flow. I would like to see it get a fresh coat of paint though. Some of the sets look like they've been through a lot.

Considering this is how it went on Broadway, I assume it will take the same trajectory here. I would be so intrigued to see if it even makes any sense at all as one part - there's plenty you could cut, but I'm not sure there's 50% you could cut! updating the script (several times now) to keep it fresh and improve the flow I would not say the updates to the script have improved the flow... Some of the new dialogue is absolutely dire

Cursed Child is probably the only show of the past 10 years I actively hate. I wish it would just go away and tour already. As a special effects light show it's great but as a play it's utterly dreadful.

Just goes to show that the whole two parter thing was truly just a ploy to get people to buy double the tickets I saw a version of the secondary school script floating around a few months ago and honestly it's much worse. Having seen both the one and two part versions (NYC vs London), the two part is the only way the show really works. As a one part, the flaws people take issue with are put more centre stage as it only has time to be about the time travel plot. With the two part, it's more a story about coming of age as a queer adolescent and what that means for familial relationships and the more-than-friend who made you realise it. That's just my read of it though.

I think it could be that. The potential is there. The script changes in the wake of the queerbaiting complaints certainly shifted it in that direction. But it's lazy, inconsistent, and too full of poorly written dialogue to really achieve it.

What if Blood Brothers returned to the West End? 🤭🤭🤭 The current production can't come in as BKL lost the West End rights once it closed at the Phoenix. I think one of the reasons it closed was the old contract which gave ATG pittance for rent was no longer valid and the new contract was going to increase costs to an unaffordable amount and I suspect it was done so that ATG could enact a stop clause.

I reckon this could sit down in Manchester for 6 months. However the 2 parts work in London as the weekdays tourists can see go, where others are at work. I wouldn’t say the tourist market would be there in U.K cities so would make sense to do in one part 6 nights a week.

The Olympia is next to a London Overground station and only a short walk or bus from Hammersmith station. Not much of a hassle. also, Olympia is a tube station, a branch on the District Line next to Earls Court.
It's not as if the developers and local authority won't have considered the internets "nightmare".
But the tube only runs to Olympia station at weekends/bank holidays.

Yes, that is now, it is not then. All of that work would have been done 5-7 years ago. Also, the market research, the impact assessments, the project partnerships, the £billion investments. At some point the local authority would begin to act on its various duties of care (to the public), the police and TfL would have been included, and on and on it goes .. London has been doing these projects of this scale since at least the first Canary Wharf tower was proposed. Everything has to work, or nothing is built. There will be a regular and peak service.
Might not be even be that hard to get to/from Old Oak Common (new Overground station/s > Elizabeth Line/eventually HS2), which would be significant.
