I don't think you are comparing like for like. A series of 1 nighters on tour is very different to an open ended run on Broadway/WestEnd.
A Broadway/WestEnd house may have other shows ready and willing to take over if its current show is struggling. Canceling a one night show at a venue will probably leave that venue dark.
Also how do you know the show isn't making money? The show probably doesn't have massive costs. Also and I have no inside knowledge but I would imagine most concerts for an a solo artist or a band sell most of their total tickets sales when they first go on sale because they will have been heavily advertised to fans before they go on sale. They may have decided to discount the remaining seats to give a nicer atmosphere for everyone and it is better to get some money for the seats than none. If they are selling say the last 10% of seats at a heavy discount that is probably fine. If they have 60% of seats still to sell that is more likely a problem.

Giving away a ticket doesn't automatically mean that the promoter doesn't make money. People still buy programmes, merchandise, drinks etc.

The show was very bland, very samey. It’s a shame as she has charisma and she can sing but the material was all so dull.

I thought she was very brave to do this when her baby is so young.

Her brother popped on for a song in the second half which woke everyone up for a minute.

I enjoyed this last night. Similar format to her last tour, it’s very much scripted and “performed” and I wish she would allow herself to relax a bit more. I’m sure all performers rehearse their anecdotes and stories for their concerts but this felt overly scripted. But then there’s the voice and she didn’t disappoint with the singing, very talented and a very good mix of songs although I did think the Morticia Addams Family song was very out of place. Certainly an appreciative audience and I’d be down for going to another concert of hers again.

She never claimed to not have seen it before? She chose it out of all the options people sent in, so of course she'd seen it before. It was probably read out at soundcheck, too. She said the people in the audience who had written the letter didn't know theirs was the one that had been chosen.
