It will be the Apollo. Romola Garai has been confirmed as leaving the Harold Pinter run of The Years on March 8th, so I would expect the first preview of this at the Apollo to be somewhere in the week beginning March 10th. Elliot is doing Hamlet until 29th March. Gosh, Elliot has been in so many things I've seen over the years, I've unintentionally seen him more than my favourite artists I book specifically for, which is ridiculous.. Absolutely fail to recognise why he is so in demand, he basically plays the same part over and over.. Hope Polonius at least could be a bit of a stretch for him.

I am not saying he’s s bad actor. He is indeed a solid actor, just very repetitive in his many performances, that’s all. Maybe it’s not even his fault, just type casting.

I've really only seen him in supporting roles, would love for him to get some big meaty bit of casting that could really show him off as an actor.

Very cool. I'm hoping tickets will be priced alright so I can take the entire family to sit at the bottom right hand side of the front row

With this and The Years on my wish list, as I didn’t get a chance to see them in the originating venue, as both sold out very quickly - Now can see both, now hoping Cat on a Hot Tim Roof will transfer, I’m sure it will, then I will be in clover.

Similarly, I didn't get a chance to see Giant so no that it's announced a West End transfer, there is much more opportunity for me to do so.

Hmm.. I kinda like Harold Pinter, some views marked as restricted are not that at all, and it’s nice & cozy unlike many other WE venues.

I feel like the majority of the theatre is restricted!
In the stalls, the stage is quite high if you’re near the front, the rake is fairly gentle and seats not very offset, so if you’re a shorty like me there’s a big risk in centre stalls that the person in front of you might block you, and then further back there are pillars everywhere. The royal circle is so high you feel quite removed from the stage, and then the balcony feels like a vertiginous death trap - genuinely I didn’t want to leave my seat at the interval sat there, I felt so unsafe! I’m usually fine with heights.
I’ve only once had a seat there I felt was decent, front mid dress circle, but due to most of the plays there having star casting the prices for those seats tends to be eye watering. And even the bad seats are expensive too.
Honestly I’ve had enough poor seats for silly money at the HP that it genuinely puts me off seeing things there now, unless the piece really really draws me in!
It’s probably a “me” problem though, they rarely have trouble selling tickets! 🤷🏻♀️ apologies for rant!

It’s probably a “me” problem though, they rarely have trouble selling tickets! 🤷🏻♀️ apologies for rant! Well, you seem to know the place much better than myself. I mostly sat in front stalls - the rake is rather poor across all WE venues I fell but being a bit on the side in front gives you more angle to the stage so you can see better, at least to my experience (I'm not a tall person either). I don't mind the front row as it's ioften a amazing opportunity to be close without paying a fortune. When DC boxes are on sale the view is great and you can move chairs, too. The best seat I've been in however was a side seat front row of the Dress Circle - for Icke's Hamlet - it felt amazingly initimate and the entire stage at a palm of your hand. I remember paying about 15 quid for it but only because they were intriducing the special scheme when half of the seats were discounted, which was very nice! I feel extremely previledged to have caught it during RC run - one of my fave London theatres, and considering there are a list of things to see during spring & summer (and my limited time trip wise) I will most likely give it a miss but will recommend to all the friend who have missed it.
