I haven’t watched this for years, possibly since the first couple of series when it was on the BBC. Then over the last couple of days YouTube started offering me clips and I watched. Mistake!
Tuning in to ITV tonight and seeing how awful it is. The original concept of this show had some merit, but now it’s just so contrived.
Has The Voice U.K. ever produced a commercially viable artist?

Yes, Becky Hill came (slowly) from The Voice.

It’s especially contrived with the way the judges take it in turns each week to “spontaneously” sing one of their songs in the break between auditions. And the band just happens to know the song… And the cameras/mics just happen to be recording to capture it… 🙄
I think this whole style of talent show needs kicking into touch for a while. But they won’t. BGT is well past its best but they’re dragging it out for another couple of months next year.
I think ITV as a whole is very tired and in need of a major revamp. It’s all the same old stuff that’s been on year after year, being run into the ground.
I watched Celebrity Catch Phrase last night. Awful. Shocking that that’s the best on offer in a Saturday primetime.
