I wish they would announce the ticket prices in advance of sale.

I wish I knew in advance of the inevitable ticket bunfight whether there will be any midweek matinées. Only 4 midweek matinees in March only, all at 2:15pm on: Weds 5th Thurs 13th Tues 18th Thurs 20th

I do wonder if the Barbican
Are over egging and inflating the expected demand for this
Warnings and caveat galore
That even members are not guaranteed tickets
I am sure it will do well of course
But it’s a large venue hardly Donmar or Almeida
And although no one denies CB is a hugely talented actress
She really lacks current relevance and in many ways has isolated herself from true mainstream interest due to her often weird and pretentious choices of material
She is often more lauded and respected by critics and industry observers than hoards of fans
Add to this ANOTHER revival of a play which is done to death
In a “version”

She is an A List Hollywood star
And one of the most respected actresses working today
And a fashion icon
And a supporting cast
Of very respected
Actors too
And a very short run
.
I think it will
Be a quick
Sell out.

I think it will Be a quick Sell out. Her last appearance here Was readily available until near the run With a run less than 1/3 Let’s not forget Recent Oscar winners and those forthcoming Have failed to cause “sell outs” It’s interesting comparing her to Nicole Kidman Who I think wrongly or rightly Would cause more box office waves

This is far more accessible play
Than the last one
I suspect that it’s the sort of thing that scalpers would take a chance on
Thus increasing the bunfight for tickets

Personally as a member of Gen Z, Cate Blanchett excites me but not enough to buy tickets. The more appealing actor for me is Emma Corin (sorry if I butchered the spelling). I’ll watch anything they are in. I think it will be a sell out, so get ready to queue!

And although I love her acting
Neither of her last London theatre outings
Were particularly well received or lauded by anyone really
Her last Oscar win was 10 years ago
Her last film was a massive flop
And her last few films have hardly set the box office alight She isn’t the most bankable actor by a long chalk

Judging by the membership emails from the Barbican they are expecting it to be massively popular
Blanchett is very well respected as an actor and most of my friendship group are desperate to get tickets
I imagine it'll be a sell out on public booking and I expect the Barbican are getting a nice membership boost
Also, Tom Burke is a big draw with my lady friends for some reason...

oh boy ... the dreaded DP: in small print near the bottom of the info page: * they don't take funding from ACE now
It also says tickets "from £20" (at least to begin with ... ). tbf, there isn't really a bad seat in the theatre.
Lets say 8 performances a week for 6 and bit weeks, with a capacity of 1,150 .. so a shade under 60,000 seats in total.

The play. Cate Blanchett. Thomas Ostermeier. Duncan Macmillan. Emma Corrin. Tom Burke. Jason Watkins. Kodi Smit-McPhee. A six-week run.
Plenty of reasons to suspect that this production will attract a lot of attention when it goes on sale. If everyone is at the top of their game then it could be very good indeed.

Ouf. Can't recall seeing a stronger cast .. I’m with you on this. Don’t get the grumpiness at all. Maybe Uncle Vanya had a stronger cast?

The usual Oligarchs Only seating at any theatre now (£195/£155) will just be the very centre of the stalls and front row of the Dress. £100 minimum to be on any of the first two levels though…

I'll definitely take a decent stalls seat for £99.50, on par with what I paid for Mary Said What She Said and that was just a one woman monologue. Hopefully something good is left for me tomorrow. I'm very flexible on dates!
