Quite enjoyed this today. Thoroughly predictable, but great central performances, excellent cgi and a level of heart normally missing from such spectacle. 4/5

Yeah I’d agree with that completely, was pleasantly surprised when I saw it yesterday. Didn’t really know anything about it, I just fancied seeing a film and it was the only thing on locally other than multiple screenings of Inside Out and Despicable Me.
I’m not a huge fan of modern CGI, often tends to be like watching a computer game, but here it works brilliantly. I felt some of those tornado scenes were genuinely quite tense.
And it was nice to see Daisy Edgar-Jones leading the cast. Since Normal People, Paul Mescal seems to have done one project after another, whereas she just kinda fell off my radar. I think her central performance is a large part of why this film is a watchable as it is, and if it’s true she’s got some stage work lined up then I will most definitely be buying a ticket.
