I'll just leave this here:
"lot's of experience" she clearly worked very hard to get to where she is... you know, training/ supporting yourself through day jobs/ struggling to be seen by agencies/ working your way up... ummm wait... (She doesn't read or write music, how did she contribute to writing a musical [that surprise surprise involved her brother])

Maybe she's just blocked us all on Twitter. I'd imagine she wrote the book, what with her barely GCSE level English skills and inability to differentiate between "affect" and "effect" (not to mention many many other grammatical faux pas'), she would be very much suited to such an important task. If this musical ever does surface, and the female lead is a two dimensional morality goon with a Disney-like name and a hyper-sensitive personality then we'll know Ms Hope Fletcher was involved in that department. Having said that, it's more likely her brother did all of the work and her contribution was complaining a lot and seizing every opportunity to ride off his success.

I hope not or those at stage door tonight might find themselves getting the brunt of it! She doesn't do stage door any more since working class folk like us ruined it for her. Or something like that.

Just imagine if her hardcore fans found this thread and all defended her... Page views are page views, no matter what the reason. (But come on, people: lighten up a bit. She may be a bit full of herself, but digging around to find reasons to sneer at her is a bit distasteful.)

You have to give her one thing, she's obviously incredibly savvy about how to build and exploit her fanbase.

She is Carrie Hope Fletcher, formerly of Les Mis, currently of Chitty tour. Former child star of Chitty, Les Mis and Mary Poppins. Sister of Tom Fletcher from McFly, who in no way at all influenced her having the career she does. Nope. None whatsoever. Neither did being a child actress allow her to skip years of training and smaller scale productions. Nope. Oh she's also an author and 'Youtuber' Who just happened to land the same book agent as her sister in law's after the latter suggested the former read her blog... but again- completely by her own merit is she published.. Because she works SO HARD YOU GUYS SO TIRED ALL THE TIME I WORK SO MUCH SO MANY HOURS now I'm done. I swear Oh please don't stop! She irritates the Hell outta me. She reaps what she sows

Oh god we'll be all burnt at the stake!
I confess I read the first book. Well "read" I skimmed it. It's as you might imagine poorly written and full of similar fairly condescending advice as the videos are. Oh and there's a sickening forward that includes a Q&A from her boyfriend, which may be awkward if they break up...

I'm going to say something here that might be unpopular but I find her quite arrogant? She seems as if everyone loves her and thinks she is the best at everything.
Hearing she doesn't stage door no more really shocked me. What about her fans? If I was paying to see her in Chitty (which I wouldn't do just to see her) and I went to stage door but she didn't come out I'd be abit gutted. How does she get out of the theatre after an evening show then?

How does she get out of the theatre after an evening show then? Firstly, judging by the tweeted photos, she IS still doing Stage Door, after some shows at least. That aside, there have been discussions aplenty elsewhere on the Board about fans' expectations re Stage Door and I'm firmly in the 'lovely bonus if it happens but absolutely not part of the ticket price' camp. And theatres have many doors, George! But I do think Carrie makes a rod for her own back by so actively courting the adoration of her (mostly very young) fans, and berating them when they expect 'too much' from her does seem a tad ungrateful!

I'm by no means a fan of Carrie but generally speaking: If you are paying to see a show (you don't pay to see a specific performer - you may go because you want to see a particular performer but in the end you pay to see a show) you will get exactly that: A show. You are not paying to see anyone at stage door. It's a lovely bonus but nothing any fan can ever expect. And yes, there are lots of doors out of a theatre and it is within every performer's right to not leave through stage door.

I've booked to see Chitty but not because of who's in it, but because of the show but the people in the show are an added bonus.

To be fair, she could walk past me at the stage door, hitting me with her backpack as she went by and I wouldn't notice her.
I genuinely couldn't pick her out of a lineup.
Although watching that video I do wonder if her and Lee Mead are sharing the same wig? Who decides who gets to wear it each night? Do they draw straws?

I really like Carrie personally! She is a talented young lady, she has written a Number 1 Bestselling Book in her own right with a second one coming out this month. The first was quite good, having read it myself. The reason I think she may come across as arrogant is to do with the whole YouTuber vibe. It is a common thing between a lot of them that they come across arrogant. Having met her in person, she was lovely at stage door to me. Through YouTube alone, they are well known for no reason whatsoever. This causes a fandom that can be uncomfortable. In truth, I can't blame her for not doing stage door. Toward the end of Les Mis, it was crazy. Carrie has her own career outside of YouTube. Whether having a famous brother helped her or not to get into the industry, it has been her and her management who has kept her in the industry.
I do wonder if anyone would bat an eyelid and call her arrogant if she was just musical theatre and didn't do YouTube?

This is starting to resemble a pile-on. Yes, the woman is ridiculous, but ignoring her is the sanity-preserving way of dealing with that. Obsessing all the things she has ever done and being nasty about her is not particularly healthy.

I remember my daughter showing me some of her 'You Tubes' (is that what you kids call it?) and playing me some of her original material, and then when she went into 'Les Mis' I took her to see it and met Carrie afterwards who was very sweet and charming. This was about 3 years ago now though...I now just feel embarrassment when I read some of the tweets and thinly disguised cash ins, which is a crying shame becasue I believe her to be a phenomenally talented singer and performer. Sure make some money out of it, but don't assume that people have a) heard of you, b) give a sh!t and c) or conversely are out to get you. Some genuine humility would also go a long way to smoothing over peoples ruffled feathers.

To be fair to Carrie, from the sounds of it on tour she usually stage doors unless is ill or has other commitments afterwards. When a lot of her fans are congregating it's not a quick "thanks for coming" and she is off on her way.

Obsessing all the things she has ever done and being nasty about her is not particularly healthy. I don't think anyone is obsessing, and I don't think it's got nasty either (although I've gone 'ouch' a couple times reading the replies in this thread admittedly). The thing is, she's quite prolific on social media and is definitely using it to her own ends. In one of her YouTube vids (which I'm finding hugely enjoyable for all the wrong reasons) she posts the cover of her new book on instagram and watches as the shares get to 300 within a matter of a few seconds (that's how it's portrayed anyway). And did you know if you pre-order said new book you get a chance to win tea with Carrie? Or how about purchasing a ticket to attend her book signing? Yep, buy a ticket to buy a book! Now, none of this is illegal, she is cashing in on her popularity and that's fine, she seems very astute or is being advised in a way to generate business. She has a long life ahead of her and times may not always be this good. BUT if you put this amount of product out there you've got to accept people commenting on it surely? You're right, we could just ignore all of her output but she works in an industry where she puts her work on display and then people respond to it, positively or otherwise. This is normal life for her. Youre right, we shouldn't allow discussion to descend into nastiness or personal attacks (and we won't allow it). But that doesn't mean we're not allowed to have a joke about Carrie's world does it? Let's just make sure we keep it on the right side of funny.

Honestly, I'd never even heard of the woman until you guys started posting about her. And I was quite happy with that.
I guess I just don't understand the impulse to hate-watch her Youtube videos or follow her social media accounts, just for the purpose of criticising her on here.
But you really want to, could it possibly be kept on one thread, instead of starting a new one each time?

I can't speak to the rest of the posters on this thread but, yes while I have been slightly bitchy at times, I personally haven't sought her out to just make fun. I was a fan, I've watched her videos for about 2 years now, I bought her book. I used to really like her, my personal comments come from a place of being irritated by the attitude of someone I used to like. Admittedly I could shut my mouth and mind my own business, but the same could be said for a lot of disscussions on this board.
If the Mods think however that we should consolidate into one thread so people don't have to see/be involved in any comments people want to make I think that's a fair comprimise.
