I was on the fence about seeing this on upcoming London vacation BUT I'm listening to OCR right now and I am SO there!. Just checking out seats and prices. Lots of seats available for the 7 Nov matinee performance but wow the prices.
I'm looking at A19. Front and center on aisle. £45. Advice please if this is a good place/price to see for first time to see show. I've never been to Dominion so don't have any experience to go with.

No Saturday matinee discounts for September yet, and I've not seen it discounted. You could beat the £50 price, but not the view and experience - if you choose carefully. I'm looking at A19 or A20. Looks like Stalls A is open performance I'm looking at. Would you recommend other seats for an up and close experience? Thanks |

It's my favorite seat, so yea - if you want to go for the front row rock concert experience it's pretty much a perfect seat as it has much less obstruction from the high stage than most others in that row.
You might want to sit further back to get the most out of the bombastic stage sets and choreographies, but if you don't want to spend more than £45, then definitely go for A19.

I'd say if you can afford top price then further back will give you a much better overall view. BUT, the 1st row experience is totally immersive. And out of all the £45 seats - A19 is the best and my personal fave (in that row the high numbers suffer from a higher stage and A11-15 have an obstruction at the end of Act 1. A19 is the best!) |

Will Andrew Polec be continuing for the extension? I really would like to see him so the Wednesday matinee I had been thinking of probably wouldn't be a good choice. I've been booking so many plays for my 3 week vacation and have very few evenings open now.
Planning theatre for a vacation is a real exercise in logistics.
I get into Gatwick 8am Sat 27 Oct. I went ahead and booked Macbeth at Barbican for that evening (£10 tickets). Then, just in case I was too tired to appreciate it, I booked Macbeth again for Fri 9 Nov. Again £10 so I knew I wouldn't be losing much if I ended up not going to one of them. Plus I was remembering last year when I saw Andrew Scott in Hamlet and was wishing I had booked it twice. From the reviews and what I've read here I don't think I need to worry about seeing this production twice.
So I could book Friday 9 Nov. So if he is still in it that should be a good time to see him perform. Right?

Loved my A16 seat and booked it again. The whole show seemed to be choreographed in the direction of that seat.

It‘ll open early November but will be performed entirely in German (yes, even the songs), so unless Andrew is stark raving mad, I can‘t see him throw his massive talent away at that predictable car crash of a flop. If anything I can see him join the US Tour ahead of taking the show to Broadway, so he can make a name for himself back home where it counts. The promo in Germany yesterday and today announced them all as the London Cast, but in true Stage Entertainment style, where performers don‘t really matter, weren‘t even introduced by name or anything. There are clips on the German Facebook site of Bat for those interested. |

BroadwayWorld announced discounts being offered for weekday performances through 20 December. Seat selection however may not be the greatest. Also, saw other special offers down to 15 for some seats. BroadwayWorld Discount? Well, I’m late to the party with this one, as I saw it for the first time last night. First half was terrible, second half amazing, such a contrast between the two! That being said, I’ll probably go back at some point just to be able to take it all in- visually it was spectacular from the start!
Edit to add... I did go back, and I have completely fallen for this show, it now being my go-to feel good show!

I think the first act really suffered from cutting "It just won't quit" early in the show. It was a perfect introduction to the two young leads falling in love and setting up their story. But with amazing songs like "Bat out of Hell" and "Two out of three ain't bad" in the first act I could never call it terrible.
The Tripadvisor reviews make me think of a couple a few rows in front of me on Saturday: They very abruptly bolted in the middle of "Dead Ringer for Love" in the second act, leaving programme and souvenir brochure in the middle of the aisle, like they had decided they just couldn't take any minute more.

Makes it hard not to sound like a snob, but really! Go to a relaxed performance if you aren’t in control of your own impulses to join in...except you’d be shown up by the impeccably behaved children with pure joy on their faces who can’t help but join in with the sensory stimulation. Not because they think it’s ok to get absolutely tw@tted before the show and disturb everyone with their boorish drunkenness.

Just saw that booking was extended; I must say I'm very surprised. I haven't seen it yet and probably end up catching it at some point, just not at the top of my list. I've been getting 'offers' since June for it!
Dread to think the amount of money that has been thrown at this show!

Sometimes I read bad reviews for fun and these were particularly good. Happy to hear you were entertained too TallPaul! 😄 It seems that these reviewers think that a musical is synonymous with a pop or rock concert and that only during a play one should be quiet...  |

I realise that on TheatreBoard we all have a different mindset, but if I'd been ejected from a theatre for unacceptable behaviour, I'd be so ashamed all I'd want to do is crawl under the nearest rock. The last thing I'd do is go public and make a show of myself.
Apparently, in Yorkshire "we go to theatre to enjoy the show and not to sit there like stick people with no emotion." Well, as someone who lives in Yorkshire, and goes to the theatre mostly in Yorkshire, it is perfectly possible to enjoy a show AND not ruin the performance for others.

I think this is the real legacy of the jukebox musicals. They attracted chavs to the theatre, who behaved like chavs during the performance, got away with it, and now believe that is how you behave at a musical.

(Snob mode off) The real legacy to talk about is that shows mgt teams and theatres have started taking others complaints seriously. In the past they have turned a blind eye and not wanted to rock the boat, but Bat seems to rely on and respect its’ regulars hence the massive social media presence and engagement. Good on ‘em I say! |
