I didn't buy one but I did manage to get one in my basket (I chose to let it go), did have to keep clicking on the standby button for a good minute or so before one became available. Looks like it was just the 10 or so tickets available, don't know whether they'll have more on quieter performances or not |

House Full sign appears to be out based on Instagram, which hopefully means there has been some walk up buisness throughout the day that can carry over during the rest of this week which looks quieter. I may try Saturday.
Programmes look to be standard Dominion souvenier ones, so if following Bodyguard/Elf/American in Paris, prices will be £8.
Just seen a picture of the stage, it looks quite high for those who would be in the front row, is it cheaper?

I’m torn between going Weds night or to the matinee in a couple of Saturdays time. I want to see Polec again so don’t want to risk it by going to a matinee really; did he do Sat mats last run?

Saw it tonight. Sight. Wow. This must be the worst thing I've seen in the last ten years. It's like the original Carrie mixed with Starlight Express. Absolutely shocked. But it clearly has its crowd and fans, so...

Am I the only one who thought 'Carrie mixed with Starlight now THAT I'd pay to see' I mean joking aside that sounds like a fun show, which BOOH from all reports is trying to be....(perfectly reasonable not to enjoy the thing of course) |

I was there last night but didn't buy a programme so not sure how much they are but yes the front row stalls are cheaper as you won't get a view into Raven's bedroom and you run the risk of being covered in dry ice, water and Strat blood! |

I was there last night too. Programmes are £5 and reasonable quality for that with rehearsal photos, an interview with Andrew Polec etc.
Reports from those sat front row centre suggest that due to the raked stage the view was mostly great but couldn't see into Raven's bedroom. I was in D37 and was happy enough for the £35 I paid, but moved into D36 for act two and would not be willing to pay the £75 asking price for it at all. The raised portion of the stage on that side blocks action from the waist down rear stage right, and the metal pylon on that side obscures the view of the tunnel. They're being cheeky having it listed at top non-premium price, really. I had a wander round at the interval and the last few seats on each end seem to have similar problems back to row J, and it's only the outer two that are discounted.
Oh, and day seats from the theatre will be starting after press night.

How difficult is the role of Strat? I'm curious because I see two actors are alternating being the alternate and with this trend of everyone having an alternate these days it seems, is it worth it for this role?  |

It's not one of those roles where the actor is on stage all the time, but it is a heck of a sing so I can see from that point of view why they went with an alternate. In terms of them having two, as a show they give the understudies, including second covers, scheduled shows. The previous setup for Strat was principal, alternate and understudy (to allow for two covers), but the understudy got a show most weeks. I think this time they've just labelled both Strat covers as alternates rather than going with the previous setup, since they'll both end up with scheduled shows anyway. |

I'd have thought one performance per week for each alternate, but if this guy does two per week, does the second alternate get ANOTHER one or is it one alternate per week while the other alternate has the week off? This is starting to sound like German cast roulette whether the principal actually turns up or not.

Finally saw this tonight after not getting the chance last year. Mid stalls from TodayTix Rush, on the aisle. Pretty full although almost all the row in front was empty.
Decent enough view as the rake is good, although I think almost any stalls seat will miss something. And the ones near the front are severely restricted.
It’s a very creative show, good use of video, songs performed well, some special effects.
Downside, there isn’t much of a plot and the songs are very samey (or that may just be my impression of Meat Loaf music - luckily he wrote lots of duets).
An odd audience. Quite a few young children in who I can’t imagine knowing the music or understanding the plot. A few filmers and photographers (I did see an usher rush down after one chap had filmed about half the show, but the ushers would have had an uphill battle with this one).
One loud (in a good way) cheering group at the back of the stalls, who I presume are the groupies with the cheap seats prebooked).
I can see why people will love it and others will want to see it. I’m certainly in the second group, so can’t imagine I’ll go back anytime soon, but it’s a bold show and one to be applauded.

It was conceived by Jim Steinman some years ago as a stage musical but before it came to be produced, Steinman adapted the songs for Meat Loaf to record and perform, with great success. What we are now seeing finally is the show as originally conceived by Steinman albeit with a substantial amount of work on the score to fit the current book and production. Apart from my complaint, I think Dr Tom's critique is a fair one and in fact he hasn't mentioned the terrible choreography which I am assuming remains much the same as it was at the Coliseum and which I, as somebody who was greatly impressed by the show as a whole, found wholly inadequate. I'm seeing it next Tuesday (third viewing after two visits to the Coliseum) from the front row of the Stalls so it sounds as if I will have a lot of compensating to do by way of what I can see..... |
