Yea I think it's been said somewhere in this tread even that there's a cast recording in the make. And if it does move into another home in London some time (at more reasonable prices) I think I might be going to see it again because it was just so overwhelming the first time round.

Great review in today's Metro which gave it 1 star but said that they didnt know whether to give it 1 or 5 stars and if it was so bad it was good or so good it was bad.

Would it be down to other productions that this finishes on a Tuesday?

I saw this last night...and LOVED it. I cannot believe I just typed that!
I went in thinking I would hate it. The book is paper thin of course, but what a fun night at the theatre! Top notch production value and wow-does it fill that massive stage! Cannot wait to watch it again. The packed house (obviously heavily papered, but anyway...) gave it an instant standing ovation.
Fun fun fun!

Fun fun fun! Why "obviously heavily papered" rather than just selling well? Seems to be only limited availability for a lot of performances from what I can see online.

Seems to be only limited availability for a lot of performances from what I can see online and there was definitely little, if any, papering in Manchester (where sky high prices and empty seats seemed to be the order of the day). The people both in front and behind me in line had comped tickets (as did I). At the interval I heard a man saying 'Can't beat this for £3!'...so fair to say there was a heavy amount of comps!

I wondered the same as availability seems fairly limited throughout and dont imagine theyd have extended twice if they were having to give most of the tickets away

Basically it's quiet Mon-Thu but a sell out at weekends which is obviously enough to keep it afloat. I do wonder what the end game is though after Toronto. Seems like a big investment for 3 limited engagement stops?

I'd be surprised if they were comping heavily. When the Manchester run extended they didn't put any offers on despite there being lots of available seats

I must be looking at the wrong days then. I can never find decent seats for the midweek dates I look at.

Maybe. Probably a week to get out, then set for the new season from mid-September? Or else some leads are not available after that date? Who knows? ENO's next season doesn't start till 28th September. Allowing Bat a week's get-out would still give 4 weeks & 2 days before Aida opens. Even with Aida being a new production I wouldn't have thought they would have 4 weeks of on-stage rehearsals?

Where do we reckon? Palladium if limited run, or Dominion if Poppins goes to Drury Lane?

I wouldn't be surprised, its seemingly doing really well!
I would put money on the Dominion or Palladium as the two venues most likely. Dominion especially, as it is also a huge theatre and clearly they are packing them in at the Coliseum so why not!

Gotta be somewhere big, I guess. Palladium may make most sense now that they're not doing long runners for the time-being. Also, was it just a slip when Baz says a West End transfer, or does the Coliseum not count as West End?

Dominion seems more likely but i could see it at the Palladium if The King and I doesn't happen. I guess a return to the Coliseum is unlikely

Genuine question, how does this show keep selling out such huge theatres? I'm a Meat Loaf fan through and through, I've seen him live several times (and was almost always the youngest there by about 30 years) but I didn't think he'd got the fanbase to sell 16,000+ tickets a week. I'm very happy to be proved wrong though, Dominion / Palladium transfer would be amazing.

Yes the show is looking for another house in town for next year, but think current set is destined for Broadway (after Toronto and (according to a friend) Germany too). I understand a cut down set is being built at the moment but that is a touring set (current get in time is a week plus, longer at Coliseum partly because it is grade 2* listed. The mods they have managed are incredible mind, flying system at ENO for set/lights/sound could originally support two tonnes, now they can stick up six). This is apparently just the beginning.

Also, it depends if they want to do it as open-ended or a limited run. If limited, they will probably do the Palladium if they want to continue limited runs rather than open-ended runs. If an open-ended run, I could see it being Dominion.
