This is brilliant news - wanted to see this when it was off Broadway so thrilled it's coming here.

I just bought a front row seat too. Seems interesting and the price is fair for a change

A one-hour pre-sale with no notice. ATG sure knows how to spoil its members.

I just bought a front row seat too. Seems interesting and the price is fair for a change I think it’s the 80 minute run time reflecting in the price

I saw ATG announce the members sale so went and had a look out of curiosity, then ended up buying a front row ticket because it was hard to resist at that price 🤦🏻♀️.

Noticed Audible have produced quite a few plays recently. Harry Clarke is already available to listen to from the NY run.

Hmmm: the stage seems awfully high, I’m hoping Billy Crudup doesn’t do too much lurking at the back 🤣

Thought it was…ok: glad I didn’t pay too much for a front row seat and there was no lurking at the back of the stage from Billy Crudup. It was about ten minutes late starting but still finished at 9 on the dot, advertised as 80 minutes straight through but it seemed to be a lot longer: Crudups Cockney accent had outrun its welcome well before the ending.

A less than glorious two star review in tonight’s Evening Standard: I’m still thinking American audiences might have been more impressed by the terrible accents (although the more I think back, that is part of the point of this) but overall it just seemed humdrum.

Just seen this. Enjoyed it immensely, got very wrapped up in the story and it was just the right length. Highly recommended.

Really very impressive performance from Billy Crudup but.......I was rather bemused with the audience laughter from the top of the monologue finding humour in many of the lines (which I didn't!) I did find the British accent rather poor (and the cockney could give Dick Van Dyke a run for his money) but there could be an argument in that it was a choice since the character is American (Hmmmmm). Great energy though and a story very well told.

So glad I switched to see this in the end. Really engaging story and very well delivered by Crudup. I actually thought he did the accents justice but I did find some of the humour and over the top audience reactions a bit cringeworthy. Glad it wasn’t any longer as the seats at the Ambassadors are awful. Poor guy next to me ended up with red wine all down his shirt when he stood to let others pass as the seats are so tight.
Four stars.

The programme is £6 and is probably not worth the money.

This was fine, I guess. Billy Crudup does deliver really well but it is also another of the really in fashion shows, Vanya, Dorian Grey, Great Expectations so I admired the work he put in rather than being hugely blown away. I didn't feel any connection to the story being told, I couldn't find a hook at all for me. One very funny moment when talking about the {Spoiler - click to view}Brazilian waxing either something in the audience or just the reaction really seemed to make him laugh, 10 seconds or so and I thought he might full on corpse but he laughed again and carried on. Front row seats have a VERY high stage (and I'm well over six foot) so bit of a neck strain and slight regret at booking 'em for Mr B. Button later in the year. On the plus side, lots of eye contact and Harry Clarke talking very directly to us repeatedly throughout and a couple of small extra bits, notably a quick wink, which probably doesn't work further back. Admired more than enjoyed.
