There doesn’t seem to be a thread for this production and so I thought I’d make my first post to start one. Saw this production last night in Bath and it is incredible!! I knew of the play because of the famous Fiona Shaw production from the 90s but I’d never seen or read it. It’s an expressionist masterpiece from 1928 and yet it plays like it was written yesterday. Richard Jones’ production is incredible, slick and devastating. The final moments will stay with me for a very long time. The design is stunning and the performances are universally brilliant. Rosie Sheehy gives a career making performance that is breathtaking in its apparent ease in delivery and yet she is completely devastating as a woman in free fall. Trust me, this performance will be talked about for years by those lucky enough to see it. Don’t hope for a possible transfer, get yourselves down to Bath in the next two weeks if you possibly can. And check out the incredible reviews, they say it far better than I can. www.whatsonstage.com/news/machinal-at-theatre-royal-baths-ustinov-studio-review_1543391/The final line of this review says it all: Machinal is one of the great theatre nights of the decade.

I took seatinthestalls' advice and went to see it this afternoon, and was completely blown away, so thanks for prompting me to book. I've seen Rosie Sheehy in a couple of things (Romeo & Julie, Oleanna, The Whale), and she has been excellent every time. However, she is on another level in this, and is absolutely breathtaking. This is the first Richard Jones production that I have wholeheartedly enjoyed, and everything about it (cast, sound design, movement) just seems perfect. Fingers crossed that it gets a future life after it finishes in Bath next week. An easy 5 stars from me. Go see if you can.

I’m so glad you enjoyed it Lopsided. It really feels like a gem in that small theatre, doesn’t it. Still feel so lucky to have seen it.

This is as excellent as above posters say it is and I hope it has a future life, though they'll need a very small theatre to retain as much of the intensity as possible. The Ustinov has about 100 seats. Superb set, superb direction, superb acting - and writing. There is something almost Pinteresque about the way seemingly innocuous language is used to intimidate. I was surprised at how little I remember of the Stephen Daldry version at the National 30 years ago with Fiona Shaw. I have a vision of her on the stage with lots of ceiling lights. Was it Daldry's first bit hit after his successful running of the Gate (it's been a long time since I heard about anything good from there; is it still going?)?

From the outside, Helen Jones and her husband had a ‘happy marriage’. Until she murdered him.
Based on the true crime story of Ruth Snyder in 1928 that shook a nation, Sophie Treadwell’s seminal Machinal is a pulse-pounding journey of someone pushed to breaking point by the relentless machinery of life, expectation and convention.
Experience the London premiere of Olivier Award winner Richard Jones’ ‘outstanding production’ (Daily Mail), starring The Stage 100 2024 Rising Star Rosie Sheehy's 'astounding stage talent' (The Guardian).
Tickets are on sale now from £13 for performances from 11 Apr–01 Jun 2024.

Will need a lot of reworking to fill the Old Vic stage. But good news for cast and creatives.

I have just booked for this, sounds incredible and right up my alley. I have seen Rosie Sheehy in Oleanna and was impressed, looking forward to this one!

Just seen news to this transfer which is great news as I missed it in Bath. I'm trying to work out when the £10 PwC Preview tickets might go on sale. I can't see anything on the website apart from signing up to a mailing list. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks

Thanks I have a small thread on this in the general discussion channel and someone kindly let me know it’s usually 6-8 weeks prior

For "Just one day "starting on the 26th of January, the pre-review tickets went on sale on the 30th of November so I reckon in February for "Machinal".

Anybody in the PwC preview queue for this? Looking very popular... The days of being in the hundreds are over for me - seems I get dumped in the thousands now... This £10 ticket scheme is very popular now...

I think I've figured out why I am getting a £3.00 donation added in these fast-moving, high-stress sales despite clicking "I do not want to donate". (This is on a desktop session with large screen.)
You click "I do no want to donate".
Eventually, you get to an order summary page and the only button visible on the screen to advance to credit card entry is a big one on the right labelled "Continue Shopping", which you click. That's a mistake. That takes you back to the What's On page.
You click the icon at the top right to get back to your shopping basket where you were previously. You realise that instead of clicking "Continue Shopping", you should scroll down to reveal a "Proceed" button, which you do. At this point, the system has forgotten you asked not to donate, and adds the default donation. Very sneaky. You have to re-do the "I do no want to donate" each time you go back to the shopping basket.

Got through 13.10 and reasonable availability in Dress and Baylis plus very rear Stalls. I picked up a nice Row A Dress Circle seat, which I'm happy with. Good luck to anybody still waiting.

I got in about 1.20 and got 2 Row C Dress Circle tix. On the dates I was looking at didn't see anything in the stalls, but considering how far back in the queue I was pleased to get something decent AND to remember to use my credit voucher!!!

.... AND to remember to use my credit voucher!!! Don't forget the tip on another thread never to use a credit voucher unless it's covering the whole amount. If you do, you won't earn any points on the balance apparently. UPDATE: Sorry, I may have that wrong. The other post was about redeeming points for a credit, not applying a credit voucher. I'd be interested to know if that works the same though.

Also, was not impressed that there was just 2 hours and 58 minutes' notice of this sale. Many will have missed that.
