No way Kai has been done dirty twice in a row. I also think a lot of these pairings seem quite off, especially Layton & Nikita, and the fact Luba has a partner.

The source is the most accurate of all spoiler sources. There is no reason to doubt it.

This is precisely why I think it’s daft that they leave such a gap now between recording and broadcasting the launch show… hopefully this’ll remain under-wraps for all those who don’t actively go looking for it until the 16th!

Lots of shows were pre-recorded months in advance but a lot of those were pre mobile phone/internet age. But the buzz to find out the strictly results has really been there since day one.
Also the Beeb trying to make out Sunday's show is live is almost a red rag to a lot of people. Either sort out schedules so it is all done on one day or don't kid us it is live.
I'm always happy to discuss the quality of dances and not give spoilers but when I see people saying "I think whoever will go" and I know it is someone different they cannot moan when I correct them or I just say "whoever went" and see if they notice whether it is a fact or an opinion.
Can one of the admin confirm whether the partnerships can be openly discussed on this thread please. I'd like to do so but I don't want to spoil it for fellow posters on here as we are a Theatreboard family and not some random opinion online.

According to website, it would appear that Neil has not been partnered, again.

Yep Neil never really seems to get a partner although his real life partneris due to give birth very soon so maybe not ideal for him.
If Nadiya is without a partner it is surprising as she IMO is the hottest female dancer so would get a fair few male viewers but maybe it could be personal circumatances too. She didn't have a partner in 2020 but that was during lockdown and as she has a daughter the "bubbling protocols" may not have been ideal for her.
Nitika (pro) with Layton I'm a bit surprised at as he got Ellie last year so I thought he might have just got a traditional female partner this year. I thought they might put the two Nikita's together to make the naming and references easier.
Johannes with Annabel will be interesting as it doesn't seem a logical dynamic. I thought he might be better with Amanda as she is a performer and would maybe click with him more. But I do think Annabel could be surprisingly good and a dark horse to go a long way.
Jowita as defending champion getting the paralympian is no surprise. The reigning pro champ often gets an older celeb or not a likely contender the next year. Kai seems to be in the Anton role of getting the older female celebs too.
Dianne and Bobby look a very strong partnership, Zara and Gravio will have a lot of chemistry and if Nigel is as good a dancer as some say with Katya he'll be someone who can go a longway.

Just an observation, most of the celebrities tend to be matched with a pro-dancer of a similar height.
The exception was Ellie last year, but she is a dwarf so even Nikita has to bend down, or arch over so there's be some height equality.
As for the same sex partnership, I think it's written in their contract that they, as the professionals, could get matched up with anyone and whomever they get, see how far they can go.
Speaking of which, for who ever wins, is there some sort of additional financial incentive?

Speaking of which, for who ever wins, is there some sort of additional financial incentive? There is no financial incentive for the pros bar the bragging rights although being a winner can boost a pro's profile and likewise for the celeb. They'd get a guaranteed offer for the tour too but the majority of those on the tour tend to be the ones who go to last few weeks minimum. I believe the pros are paid a flat rate regardless of how long they last and probably if they get a partner or not. Some newer pros could be on less and get extra if they get a partner. Celebs all start on a flat fee, those who make it to Halloween episode get extra and then those who make it to Blackpool get another extra payment. No additional bonuses for making final or winning it as far as I know.

The logic of the Sun apparently Nadiya wasn't given a partner as all the guys this year apart from Bobby Brazier aren't as tall as her or certainly not as tall as her in heels. The show's bosses felt that pairing 20 year old Bobby with Nadiya who is in her mid 30's was too much of an age gap.
Fair enough but Bobby is paired with Dianne Buswell who is 3 months older than Nadiya. The age gap between pros and celebs has never been an issue Angela Rippon is 50 years older than her partner, Annabel Croft is 20 years old than hers, Les Dennis is 37 years older than his. Talk about a none excuse.

Two years in a row of Dianne getting a celeb who’s much taller than her and just as Tyler did last year, I expect Bobby will have a lot of work to do on maintaining frame in hold without hunching over.

Dianne to be fair has got a rumoured good dancer in Bobby and Tyler was a good contestant last year. Luba is the 2nd tallest girl after Nadiya but for her to come back into having a partner and getting one of the best might have seemed strange. Karen is a few inches taller than Dianne but is 20 years older than Bobby so maybe wouldn't have been a logical partnership.

I feel bad for Les because he seems like a genuinely nice guy and usually the comedy ones get a few weeks of votes for the laughs.
I hate that Layton is getting hate comments online, but I disagree with some people saying ‘you didn’t complain when [celeb-with-musical-experience] was in it’ - because this discourse DOES happen every year to some extent.
Layton is amazing, but he is so good that there is essentially no competition, you could easily mistake his dances as just two professionals and it’s only week 2. Imo Strictly is all about non-dancing celebrities learning to dance - while there will be those who have danced in the past (stage performers tend to have at least some experience), Layton is seriously on another level and while that’s brilliant for him it does feel unfair.

Les must have known what he was signing up for but I guess there's a big difference between rehearsing and doing a feature role in a musical and the intensity of the Strictly schedule. His movement was so laboured and awkward it looked painful. I guess the audience clicked that watching him suffer would be less than entertaining.

It's utterly untrue that Layton doesn't have any competition because at the end of the day he has to win over the audience as much as everyone else does. If anything he has a major handicap as he has past experience and is so good.
Layton is highly unlikely to win so I'm going to enjoy his performances while he's still around particularly with Nikita's choreography.

Here we go for the second elimination
Zara and Nikita in the dance off.
The judges saved Zara.
Nikita was eliminated

Not surprised to see Nikita go but Zara struggling so much is a shock ands her social media following isn't voting much for her. If she goes soon you'd only have Ellie left of the "younger" girls. Angela Scanlon who turns 40 in December would then be the next youngest after Ellie.

Strictly's audience is very old. Social media following doesn't tell you much. Strictly would have a more "mature" audience as a lot of "younger" people may be out on a Saturday night. But I thought Zara's fanbase might have kept her out of the bottom 2 for a few weeks. Social media stars with big followings like Joe Sugg, Saffron Barker didn't win but they went a long way. A co-ordinated voting campaign can take someone so far. But often it is someone who the people embrace who wins - Hamza last year wasn't that well known but picked up lots of votes and I don't think was even in a dance off.

Yeah, celebs with a social media background need to appeal to the Strictly audience to do well. That's usually easier for young men than young women and Zara has been a bit anonymous so far. She's not helped by being paired with one of the less inventive dancers.
With Jody and Nigel near the bottom she was easy to overlook.
