I wasn’t expecting much when I saw a poster for this outside a cinema in the West End a couple of weeks ago, it looked like it was going to be some kind of dreadful family fodder that parents would be forced to play on a loop for hyperactive toddlers on a loop, it was only when I saw the trailer this week and saw it was actually a potty mouthed movie and it had some respectable reviews that I was interested (I used to love Will Ferrells work but unfortunately he has done nothing of note since Step Brothers and I had just about given on him)
To be honest, I’ll be kind to it and say it was just ok: it sorts of tootles along for the opening stretch and only really picks up when Jamie Foxx’s , er, ‘character’ arrives but after that I thought the properly funny bits were too few and far between, the thought of dog lovers seeing the posters and booking it thinking ‘oh look at that sweet looking doggie film’ and then getting a super rude awakening within the first five minutes was funnier than most of the film🤣

Apart from some awful rap music on the soundtrack, I enjoyed this and laughed a lot. The vibe is as if a live-action Lady & the Tramp had mated with South Park or Ted. It's gloriously potty-mouthed and full of toilet humour. Great fun.
Four stars.
