Murray Melvin has died aged 90. I used to see him around Stratford when the Theatre Workshop archives were still based at Theatre Royal Stratford East. A real outpouring of love for him on Twitter.

He was wonderful - I've always loved him the movie of A Taste of Honey. How he kept the legacy of Stratford East alive. I was lucky enough to hear him speak at a talk before A Taste of Honey at The National in 2014. He was so elegant and graceful and it was wonderful to hear him speak about Shelagh Delaney, Brendan Behan and Joan Littlewood

I mentioned in the Village Idiot thread that Mark Benton said a few words in honour of Murray Melvin at the end of the performance on Saturday Night. A very fitting tribute to one of the greats .

I remember him from the terrific Jonathan Creek special Black Canary, a brilliant actor.
