I doubt this will get announced tomorrow but I’ve heard it’s playing at the Theatre Royal in Glasgow over Christmas in 2025 I assume some of these dates announced tomorrow will go into 2025. Cardiff Christmas 2024? But yeah maybe not annouce as far ahead as Christmas 2025. Have Glasgow teased anything? They haven’t teased anything as of yet, but it’s definitely pencilled in to the theatres’ calendar. My friend works there and told me a month or so ago. Fingers crossed!

Southampton 18 March - 26 April 2025 Top price £95 which is a new record. Thanks so much for confirming that - yes of course it’s expensive by touring production and Mayflower standards but I’m also relieved that it’s less than the Manchester prices shown further up this thread. I’ll definitely be booking to see it in Southampton but given it’s two years away will no doubt have to make a return trip to the Victoria Palace before then!

I think October is the latest thing I've got planned. Is anyone actually booking things two and a half years in advance? I thought one of the effects of the pandemic was people were a bit reluctant to book dates for things so far off.

I thought one of the effects of the pandemic was people were a bit reluctant to book dates for things so far off. I’m can’t speak for the other venues as have only seen details for Southampton’s Mayflower theatre, but tickets for the dates there in March/April 2025 aren’t onsale until end Sept this year, so it’ll be around 18 months away by then. I recall that’s not unusual for the big musicals when they come to the Mayflower, but yes, only a proportion of people are prepared to book that far ahead. Those who want the best seats if they’re anything like me!

Booking two years ahead of time is risky IMO, I could understand a year but something might happen before that.

I don't get the big deal about booking ahead, and certainly don't see it as risky lol
Generally life is pretty much the same when you work, have family, mortgage etc. It's not exactly difficult to block out one evening in the future. Same way as you'd block out someone's wedding date, or a big birthday or holiday.
And judging by how well these big shows sell that far in advance I don't think that many people are worried.
You could book a show for this Friday and something could still happen. There's always the risk something could come up unexpected no matter when you book. But Generally its pretty easy to plan around one date.
Plus it allows people time to budget and save if they can't afford it now.

Based on his Instagram story it looks like Joel Montague (current King George and Mr Carrie Hope Fletcher) might be playing King George on tour

Its such a strange role isn't it, on stage for about 5 mins. Yes it is, a cushty role really. Joel's post is oddly worded and I don't know how to share images on here but he reshared the Hamilton tour announcement video with this caption... 'Seems as though I'm about to re enter my Hamilton era' Which doesn't make sense as he is still in the cast so if anything should be 'continue'.

Has anyone heard any casting rumours for this yet? It opens in Manchester in a couple of months - I thought some details would have been released by now.

I wonder if Maya Britto is in the company? She is/was the stand by for the sisters but seems to have left as of yesterday? Which seems odd given they had a cast change a few months back.

Its such a strange role isn't it, on stage for about 5 mins. The last time I saw Hamilton (Jan '22!), Joel was part of the ensemble when not on stage as King George. I can't recall because it was so long ago, but I guess it could also be that due to cast illness there were split tracks, I guess. I just remember thinking it was good that they found something for him to do!

I keep seeing Shaq in his IKEA ads I wonder if he gets repeat fees for that or if it was a high one-off payment?

Really pleased for Daniel Boys. He should be more famous than he is.

I'm sure the guy playing Hamilton is the one with the "crib" in the Ikea adverts!

Well I’m quite excited by that announcement. I’m certain Aisha Jawando will make a great Angelica - she was a lovely Alline Bullock in the original Tina cast; Sam Oladeinde gave a great performance in Come From Away when I saw that last. Lots of people I’ve not seen before but most with great credits behind them.

I saw this in Manchester earlier on in the week. I came to it 'fresh', ie, never having seen it before, live or filmed, and I deliberately didnt look up snipppets beforehand either. I knew the broad outline of the story and what to expect in terms of singing style. It seems very hyped (see also Six) which then leads to lesser quality in my opinion.
I thought it was really really good. Really interesting story, told well. All of the cast were charismatic. I've been admiring the man-from-Ikea and his crib for awhile so it's quite embarrassing I didnt realise it was him until quite late on (I'm blaming my varifocals!!!). Him, King George, Lafayette/Jefferson were all wonderful. (King George was definitely enjoying himself.)
I'm not a big fan of rap/hip hop or Greatest Showman style singing but I still really enjoyed it. I would happily see the performance again (and I might well do) but I cant see myself playing the music on repeat.
I realise the tickets are expensive (£90 in the stalls, for me) but it is a big cast with a live orchestra and that costs.

I’m in a similar position and haven’t been looking forward to it much. Maybe it will be way better than I’m expecting.
