I was incredibly late to the party in this one. I have binged everything in under 10 days!
Sarah Lancashire is a true star in this. Raw, real and powerful.
The writing is taut. The drama well paced.
I hope tonight's finale is a fitting end to the series. I have no reason to doubt that it will but, after Line of Duty, anything is possible.

I had that winter cough/cold thing recently and used it as a good excuse to rewatch the lot. I don't normally binge but did with this! Btw, tonight's finale is going to be a bit longer than normal.

Sarah Lancashire and Siobhan Finneran are two of the best actors ever, tonight’s finale will be an absolute classic .

I had seen both series 1 and 2 at the time but last week I rewatched them both to help me with the plot of this third series.
Love the fact that you couldn't binge watch it so became a real talking point on Mondays.
Class acting by everyone but Sarah Lancashire is just brilliant in this.
Really hope there is a happy ending.

I also watched when it originally went out, and decided to re-watch it. Still only seen the first two episodes so far, so need to get a move on.
I’m surprised how much I’d forgotten. I even had absolutely no memory of Steve Pemberton being in it, despite the fact I used to love The League of Gentlemen and he does have a pretty prominent role.

Anyone also noticed that 3 of Corries biggest and best female characters have been in Happy Valley.

So many drama series fail to stick the landing when it gets to the finale - they often can’t live up to the hype - but Happy Valley managed to pull it off! A great final episode!

My stomach is still in knots. That last scene between Catherine and TLR…well! So well acted…and the scene at the end between the sisters was exceptional…

Late to the party and finished the penultimate episode with an hour to spare before the finale. Good series that one. Thought Norton was good also. Really good finish |

Agree with all the comments, exceptional acting and writing throughout. If there is any justice it should clean up at awards season.

It's been a fantastic series though I did find myself going 'oh, as if' a few times during the last two episodes, which I didn't think as strong as what's gone before, and the teacher/pharmacist storyline started promisingly but didn't develop well, and could have been dispensed with in favour of more on the gangs.

I didn't watch any of this (I know it's on playback) I must be one of the few. I do know however that the viewing figures have been HUGE as has the buzz about it.
I saw something on the BBC new where they were trying to work out why it was so popular, looking at the stars of the show, the quality of the acting, the location where it's set, the strength of the writing.
Whatever the combination, they clearly got it right.
I hope that that those who did watch it, enjoyed it as much as anticipated.

I do think that as well as the quality writing, acting and so on, one of the real successes was not being able to binge watch it, and having the suspense between episodes this series build up. Old school! That and the actors growing older between series 2 and 3…

I like to think of myself as the Catherine of library services…I’ve been there so long I can see the disasters coming and name the skeletons when they crop up!
I particularly liked that the criminals all got nicked off camera, even JLR didn’t get to die on screen, but we got Catherine and Clare hugging with a fab one liner. They gave HER centre stage!
So many women everywhere can relate to this, no matter what they do. |

Sally Wainwright adamant that you've had all you're ever going to get from Happy Valley. No comebacks,no spin-off, the story has been concluded.
I'm glad she didn't feel obliged to tie up every lose thread, and explain every detail. So many viewers want everything spoonfed nowadays rather than using their imaginations to fill in the gaps.
