Real mix of reviews for Graceland, currently upstairs. Saw that one review referenced its difficult journey with the director leaving (?) before the end of the rehearsal process and the playwright having to step in for the performer for 2 of the previews.

Just posting here as not sure if there is a better place. Please move if needed! I received an email telling me that Dana H has been cancelled, as Deirdre O’Connell is no longer available due to repercussions of the SAG strike.

That is a shame - I was so interested to see it. I wonder if there's anything lined up to replace it?

Isn't it strange that there is nothing programmed at the Royal Court after "Cowbois" (ending on Feb 10) apart from the comedy nights in March?

Royal court are closing their literary department apparently. Which seems.... bad

What are they planning to do instead? 'Literary' departments with 'literary managers' have always seemed to me deeply dysfunctional. Few people, other than (some) playwrights know how to read (or structure) plays, and those people are rarely also good managers. But it'll still be tricky to find a structure that works.

Is there a change to Friends benefits? It use to say "Priority Booking (including access to £12 Monday tickets for the Jerwood Theatre Downstairs - subject to availability)" it now says
- Priority Booking
- Advanced access to £12 Monday tickets
If they have extended it to the upstairs shows, that would be a nice extra benefit.

I felt the RC lost its way towards the end of V. Featherstone, in an Andes plane crash kind of way.
Probably being too unkind but there just wasn't anything that appealed anymore whereas, before, I was a believer.

very optimistic about DB. The new Diorama has become one of the most exciting venues in London

"Finally, LIFT presents the world premiere of ECHO (Every Cold-Hearted Oxygen) as a part of the Royal Court Theatre’s new season. Running from 13 to 27 July with a press night on 17 July, Iranian playwright Nassim Soleimanpour (White Rabbit Red Rabbit, NASSIM) and Italian Palestinian director Omar Elerian’s (NASSIM, Misty, two Palestinians go dogging) production will see a new, unrehearsed and unprepared performer take to the stage at each show. They will simply be led by a script that asks us to confront what it feels like to be an immigrant in time. "

That's a heck of a statement first season - very impressive.

On a first look, "Giant" really appeals in what looks to be a strong season and a good way forward for the Court.

This is the same venue that gave us Jerusalem and That Face not too long ago, for crying out loud. What a privilege it was to be there during the Ian Rickson/Dominic Cooke years.
