This is by far Disney’s laziest and worst stage show. I honestly hated this today.

That is a shame as the film has some great songs

Mulan would be very good choice. Personally we do not have enough 'Asian' (sic) musicals

What is Disney's obsession with having new directors every time they do a new musical. Like why not choose Julie Taymor. She has her issues big ones in fact. But at least she has a vision.
Aladdin could have been shorter but it did have some excellent sets, costumes and songs. The choreography was also good.
Was Frozen better than Aladdin?

Having a new creative team for a new show is standard practice. You clearly don't know how theatre works.

That's a bit abrasive, Jon.
Creatives often work with the same director across several shows, if they get along well. ALW brought Hal Prince back for Phantom after Evita and then Trevor Nunn for Aspects of Love after working together on Cats and Starlight Express.
Julie Taymor created the by far most successful stage adaption of any Disney musical, while so many other shows either tanked completely (Little Mermaid anyone? Should have been a slam dunk, could have been an amazing feast for the eyes, was neither) or used fairly conventional unexciting staging.
From all I've heard so far about Hercules, it could definitely have benefitted from a bigger "vision" of how to tell a tale set in Ancient Greece. And Julie Taymor hasn't done a big musical since the Spider-Man fiasco, I think, why not give her another chance at a big musical after so many years (if she wanted to)?

I understand what you're saying but to describe hiring a new director for a new project as an obsession is frankly absurd.

There are people in theatre that work for Disney who really understand it. And there are other directors who have no idea.

Bit weird they are calling it a world premiere when it's very much just been on in the US... Unless they've started completely from scratch?
