Having paid best part of £100 a seat for decent centre stalls for this, I’m hoping they’ll invest a bit in putting on a West End-worthy production. I’ve not seen the original or the tour so I won’t have a comparison. But the Coliseum stage is a big space to fill!

I was meant to see this in Cardiff but missed it because of re-scheduling due to Covid and couldn't attend the new date.

don't think it's WWRY – could be that If/Then musical she was attached to?

Kerry Ellis is teasing some kind of announcement happening tomorrow. It’s a new studio album and some concert performances in May. Would still be time to go from those into WWRY…

No Kerry Ellis for WWRY, she’s just been announced to appear in A Midsummer Night’s Dream in Stafford in June/July 😞

Brenda Edwards as Killer Queen and Lee Mead as Khashoggi.
Disappointed about Brenda's casting, I really didn't enjoy her in WWRY last time out.

I wonder who will be performing in Manchester tomorrow night? Old cast? Adam Lambert? New cast?! As they've just announced some of the new cast I'm hoping it'll be them. Seems to be what they've done with Wicked today too. Lee is looking a bit different in the promo shot I've seen!

The coliseum musical seems to be getting further and further away from being the 'event' they used to be. Talented as they are, this is basically tour level casting. If its the tour set as well then not sure what you're paying the premium for

Lee Mead. The dullest person on the planet. Makes Alfie Boes personality seem positively scintillating.
Pass.

This whole enterprise just gets duller and duller, and whiffs of a tacky cash grab. The tour was appalling, so for them to take its (bang average) leads and put them in a ‘premium’ priced production alongside two MT ‘personalities’ is scraping the bottom of a very deep barrel. If they even consider using the same non-set I may consider legal action.

I feel so annoyed about this. I was expecting so much more for the London production. The way it was announced made it out to be a big thing! If I could, I would refund at this rate.

I'm hoping that the staging is going to be a bit bigger than the recent touring production, I paid £135 per ticket when they first went on sale.

It's a big no from me. I saw this in it's very first opening week way back with the fantastic Tony Vincent, Hannah Jane Fox, Kerry Ellis and Sharon D Clarke. It blew teenage me away. No desire to see a scaled down production with fairly bang average stunt casting, priced at a premium.

It may have been a steaming pile at the Dominion when it first opened, but it looked and sounded phenomenal. Tony Vincent and HJF was both vocally astounding (to their detriment now) and the rest of the cast were uniformly fab too. But each passing year has chipped away at its appearance, foolishly assuming that its non-story is enough to placate its paying audiences because they get to hear Queen songs sung well. They can go and see Lambert & co for the same price as a Coliseum ticket now, which is a much better idea.

The show itself has always been absolutely dreadful- but at least the original production had the most sensational singing you’d ever hear in a theatre. That original cast was really quite something. They could have made this return season something really special and tried to cast exciting names.. Hannah Waddingham as Killer Queen anyone? Instead- it’s a low rent tour at premium prices.

I saw the original London production over 100 times from the beginning up until a few months after Mig left. I haven’t seen it since apart from a bootleg of the most recent UK tour (which was absolutely awful), but this new production tempted me to revisit a show that made me a lot of friends and memories. Luckily I hadn’t booked yet, because it’s lost all appeal for me now. Some things are best not revisiting to retain the memories.
Also curious to know, are there any old members from the WWRY board on here?
