There would have to be some kind of buy-back scheme to reduce the number of guns out there.

It has already been heavily debunked that the shooter is non-binary as there is ZERO evidence in internet searches or social media proving it. ZERO.
And yes, some people DO keep voting for those. But Democrats aren't those people and we're sadly trapped by the gerrymandering. I'm gay, but I'm a one-issue voter. I'd trade my right to marry to get these guns banned in a heartbeat.

Why should there be ANY internet evidence of someone's belief that they are NB? Not everyone lives their entire life through the filter of social media. Indeed some people avoid using their phones or home pcs to reduce the risk of being 'outed'. The perpetrator may or may genuinely believe that they are NB. No one on here or any other part of the internet has any ability to know that.

People are allowed to come out in their own sweet time - that’s the rule, isn’t it? There was no ‘evidence’ of Sam Smith being non-binary before they came out, either. Look, I don’t make these rules - I just find it hypocritical when people who would make a huge fuss if I didn’t follow them decide to make convenient exceptions.

Comparing Sam Smith to someone who is facing life or death because of a hate crime is a little ridiculous.

It really isn't though, it's not comparing crimes in this instance (that's a separate issue), its comparing gender identity journeys.
It's certainly no more ridiculous than saying because there was no internet history it can't possibly be true. Surely we aren't still of the mindset everyone has an online presence.
Either way, whatever the gender identity it doesn't excuse killing people.

That really doesn't hold water as an argument when you look at the whole amendment. It says: A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. The necessity for a well regulated Militia ceased many, many decades ago. Therefore the need to allow people to keep and bear arms also ceased to be necessary let alone desirable. There is nothing in the 2nd Amendment that protects the right of the citizen to own firearms given that there is no citizen militia. It is time for the US to grow up and wean themselves off this addiction. Because it is exactly that. A murderous addiction.
Hey, it's not my argument. It's the prevailing opinion in the American court system, one that has shaped public policy for decades.

Either way, whatever the gender identity it doesn't excuse killing people. This is the key point I think people need to get their heads around. It’s not ‘Trans’ = victimised, marginalised, therefore always good, and ‘cis’ = powerful, oppressor, and therefore bad. That’s a simplistic view of the world that doesn’t relate to real life. Trans people can do bad things, and so can cis people. Trans people can even be privileged and use that to their advantage (Caitlyn Jenner, anyone?). It’s certainly not the case that all ‘LGBTQ+’ people are one big happy family who don’t have interpersonal conflict, philosophical disagreements, mental health conditions, personality disorders, or political beliefs that could lead them to behave in violent and abusive ways. Being trans or gay or ‘genderqueer’ is not a get-out-of-jail-free card. A non-binary mass murderer is still a mass-murderer!

Where would we be without straight peoples insight.

Thanks for arguing against something no one actually said. Where would we be without straight peoples insight. OK, we are getting off topic here, but these days a lot of people who identify as trans or non binary or queer are also 'straight', as in, attracted to the opposite biological sex.

Indeed, by some people’s definition I could claim to be part of the LGBTQIA+ community. I don’t, because I think it’s obnoxious - no-one in modern times in the West has tried to restrict my civil liberties, criminalise me, or stop me living how I want. (That is not true of certain Middle Eastern countries…) If you want to gatekeep who can claim an ‘LGBTQIA+’ identity, then you have to set up some coherent definitions with clear boundaries. If you don’t - if you want to be as inclusive as possible - then you have to accept that sh*tty people will take advantage of that, and can legitimately claim to be part of your community.
