True - choreography by Ellen Kane (eh) and a composer might suggest play with music though. I guess it needs a choreographer and composer for the ballet scenes as the kids in the story go to a ballet school?

Thanks so much for this. Any recommendations on seats for this as I understand screens are used a lot so I guess back stalls I would miss these screens? I’ll be going in with very low expectations!!

Going much less & waiting till I'm sure there won't be a train strike on that day. I’m the same and booking stuff quite late as got stung a few times last year with the train strikes.

I have a bit of a theatre addiction but programmes are my happy place. Would be great if they were : 1) free 2) a reliable size like Playbills My mission this summer is to proper organise! How amazing would it be if they were all the same size? Playbill sized would be perfect! Hate the massive ones that don’t fit in my bag!! I’m another who has to get a programme for every show I see. I hate it when venues run out of progs. It has happened quite a few times at ATG venues on the last day of touring shows.

This is from the Palladium website "This hilarious tribute-parody-celebration will have you singing and dancing in your seats LIVE at the world famous London Palladium for one night only" So they are basically giving you permission to sing. Everyone did when this was on at the duchess. It was pretty hilarious! The whole audience would have ended up on the bad behaviour thread 🤣

I'd almost forgotten about this thread as it's slipped so far down, but felt I should mention the gorgeous lady (in her own eyes) in the audience of The Little Big Things a couple of weeks ago. She came in 'look at me', swishing her long blonde hair and making a futile attempt to pull down her impossibly short skirt. Having taken her seat, she made sure her skirt was so high you could almost see what she'd had for lunch, then set about sorting out her hair. Leaving it 'toss toss' loose clearly wasn't an option, as she first tried it in a top knot, which still wasn't satisfactory, so she opted then for a pony tail. All the time she was twisting in her seat, making sure that she could be 'seen'. When everything was finally to her satisfaction, she finished by taking off her shoes, only putting them back on in the interval so she could fetch wine. Granted she wasn't doing this during the show (apart from the bare feet), but it was attention seeking and distracting, as she was seated next to me. Just a side note on hair. When someone’s hair is so long it hangs back over the seat..that. Not theatre related but I remember once on a train a mother was picking nits out their kids hair 🤨

How well is this selling? They seem to be advertising it in every ITV ad break this week!

Has there been any announcements about any of the cast having holidays/shows off? I will probably try and see a midweek matinee but worried about missing someone!

With the ATG card now do you just save the £3.80 processing fee or do you actually get a couple of quid off each ticket? I remember when I had one years ago the tickets were always slightly cheaper when I logged in. Also what’s with the £50 and £75 prices? What is ticket protection exactly! I know I should look this up on their website but it’s so confusing on there figured someone here would know!

Thanks so much. It’s quite a hard sell to the average non theatregoing person though! I’ll be fine it’s who I take that is the problem!! If you struggle to shift it, it’s worth contacting ATG (assuming you bought from them). Although they’re notorious for their no refund policy, I was able to wrangle a gift voucher out of them when I returned my extra ticket. Like drawing blood from a stone! Actually got them from todaytix so not looked into their returns policy but I’m guessing they don’t let you!

Sorry if I’m asking something already covered in this thread but can someone tell me if there is just one interval in this and what the running time of each half is?
I have a spare ticket for this as my friend can no longer attend, think I may struggle finding someone to come with me due to the running time and content of the play so may put the ticket on the notice board here eventually!

Thanks all. Unfortunately it turned out my station were running no trains today and I couldn’t get to another station but Charing Cross theatre let me change my ticket for another date so I will get to see the show after all. Looking forward to it!

Is the running time correct on the website? 2hrs 20mins? Due to see this on Saturday and need to work out if I will be able to go as due to the train strikes the last train home will be ridiculously early.

I thought that but then do many arts jobs ? Looking at the job spec there is an awful lot to do but it does look exciting and varied. I'm glad the MCF is still limping on That’s true but for a London job and seems to be a 40 hour week rather than 35 hours plus the you may be expected to work some evenings and weekends they are taking the mick a bit with that salary! The lower end being less than minimum wage!

I’m looking to see this but the date I’m looking at is a dementia friendly performance- anyone know what that would involve? It says the performance will be slightly adjusted.

And yes, as mentioned, the staff there are awful. As you enter, they are literally screaming at people, telling them to go to all doors. We weren't allowed to take a bottle of water in. Sound was also pretty bad in some places. But the audience were awful? People getting up to the toilet throughout, etc. Really treating it like a concert. Such a shame that the show has ended up in this position. What justification do they have for taking water off people? Especially in this weather! I carry water with me everywhere so always annoys me when places don’t let you take it in. Anyone know if they’d take it off you if you have it in one of those expensive keep cool type bottles or would they just make you tip the water out?

Have just come across a video of a previous production in Umeda Arts Theatre in Japan also with Hadley and Samantha. It looks like this heavily influenced the Drury Lane production as the distracting choreography looks very similar! Wasn’t it Ramin who did it in Japan or has Hadley done it there too?

Why doesn’t the arts keep the air con on the whole show? Saw it at the weekend and it seems they switch it off for the majority of the show.

At least one pre-sale for Guys & Dolls at the Bridge Theatre is now open. First preview Monday 27 February 2023. The area which appears closest to the stage is being sold as "Pit Standing, General Admission" @ £42. Is that a first for a traditional musical in London ? I can see the appeal for a musical like Mamma Mia with its danceable score but why would anyone want to stand for two to three hours of Guys and Dolls ? There is seating on all four sides of the stage. A lot of the seats which I would consider reasonably priced - £18 to £54 during previews - come with a restriction warning - high seat, lean forward or overhang - and decent preview seats are in the £71 to £149 price range though those prices probably includes an agency fee. From official opening it's £24 to £179. In a previous incarnation Guys and Dolls apparently struggled on tour and was the first show I ever saw as a seat filler. Hopefully this Guys and Dolls will be something special like Cabaret. I've just grabbed the cheapest available seat @ £18 for opening preview night way up in the balcony for now. I remember having standing tickets for the Piccadilly production about 15 years ago as that was all I could afford back then. It felt such a long show having to stand! I was glad when it had finished!! I don’t think I appreciated what I good show it was until I saw it from a seat 😂
