It’s supposed to be released 20th December 2023 which is the same week as Wicked. Two movie musical releases the same week seems unlikely? Wicked: Part One is December 2024, not ‘23.

I’m afraid I can’t answer any of your questions but I can tell you that it can be found on YT. Just having a watch. What a great play. Victoria Hamilton is magnificent in it. If anyone is looking for something to watch, I recommend! I really don’t like that bit where they break character in fits of giggles though, call me old-fashioned!

Any word on a transfer for this? I'd be surprised if it did, it didn't sell well in either Chichester or Bath.

He’d be good but I wonder if they’re conscious of having too many pop stars in the cast? Ooooh can we have Suzi Quatro as Madame Morrible, Adam Ricketts as Dr Dillamond and David Cassidy as the Wizard? You can never have too many popstars! Too short, too problematic and too dead is my answer to that, I'm afraid.

Doing my first trip to chichester to see this! Got a cheap balcony ticket which I'm regretting a little with all the comments saying the choreography is best if watching front on Which seat are you?

How about that Jonas bro? The one who did Les Mis? Nick was it? He’d be good but I wonder if they’re conscious of having too many pop stars in the cast?

Actually Jonathan Bailey isn't a bad shout. He could age up and down. But with bridgerton and his recently announced tv or movie (forget which) i cant see him being available Something just seems a bit off with the way this movie(s) is shaping up. Hopefully I'm wrong and there will finally be a good modern movie musical Jonathan Bailey is a bit too classy for this now, I think*. He’ll be wanting to flex those meaty acting chops. They need a fresher twink off the block. *And don’t come for me like you did after I suggested Olivia Colman &/or Jodie Comer wouldn’t want to be in Mamma Mia 3. Btw that’s not specifically directed at you @theatrefan2, just anybody. I don’t remember who it was. Xxxx

Jordan Fisher is a name that has been thrown around a lot for Fiyero. I think he fits the bill, but wouldn't be my ideal choice. I think Jonathan Bailey (Bridgerton star) would be a good pick. Also, having just read the article... how many people go to the cinema on Christmas Day? How many cinemas are actually open? Christmas day here in the uk is the only day cinemas are shut. Though in recent years, some have been opening on Xmas Day. I’m aware of some Odeons that have.

Meryl “doesn’t do sequels”, would doing a 2 part film be doing a sequel? She did both parts of Angels in America, so I think she’d be fine with it 😂 Though I’m doubtful if she could be arsed to play another witch!

After reading the blurb about her on the CFT website, I realise that I've actually seen her in FOUR things! She was wonderful in Xanadu at Southwark Playhouse, I just wouldn't have been able to tell you her name. She was “Unnecessary Norma” in the ENO Sunset Boulevard. The one who was skulking around in the background walking very slowly with pointy feet. I don’t even remember that! Did Glenn not do all her own skulking?

Bin the lot of them!
Turn 10 Downing Street into a theatre with a certain intimacy but enough wings space to house Bedknobs And Broomsticks! That way What's New Pussycat? can have the Noel Coward and the House of Commons can be used for the Oklahoma! transfer.
Yes, vote for me.

I've just contacted the Royal Court Box Office about moving my tickets because of not being able to travel tomorrow and they want to charge me an admin fee, which I think is a bit much considering the train strike is completely out of my control. There are no trains running out of Brighton tomorrow.

I saw this too. I thought it was quite good, putting aside for a moment the ethical implications and my own opinion of sex work/prostitution etc. Very brave of Thompson to go fully naked in several scenes. Must be hard to do at any age, and interesting that the guy doesn't get full frontal shots, while she does. I've seen some screen caps of his full frontal shots (sorry), so they're definitely in the film. You didn't drop a Malteser at a prime moment did you?

Wasn’t this announced for the Gillian Lynne after the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe? I thought this was great watching the NT Live broadcast, so might consider seeing it on stage. Just scooped by Baz, not officially confirmed yet.

I enjoyed the flying sequences, which were a huge step up from the first film but everything else left me rather cold. The romantic subplot with Jennifer Connelly felt like a waste of her talents. In an ideal world, we should have had Kelly McGillis back but this time as Maverick’s ex who is a ball-breaking lesbian colleague! Also, this one isn’t dripping in homoeroticism like the first one, sadly. Darn! So no hot beach volleyball scene?? So disappointed 😆 There’s a hot beach rugby scene but the general underlying sexual tension is not there. No locker room posturing. Tom doesn’t even try to kiss Jon Hamm. As if that would happen in real life?!

He would if he really wanted to play the part and valued the contribution he could make to a theatre industry struggling post-Covid. They'd get the press back in to watch him, so it's not like he'd go unnoticed. Not necessarily a wholly accurate comparison but Roger Allam went in to La Cage AFTER Graham Norton, also third cast Really? I don't think so, he would still be helping the industry to go into something else, something new. The press being back is not the same thing as being the opening cast, no build up, no awards. It just wasn't going to happen. I still think it's the sort of thing he'd really love to do. I bet he'd rather do it now than wait for the next revival. Only sticking by the conditions for playing a part that you mention, I think would be pretty shallow for any actor. And as discussed recently on another thread (or maybe it was this one), you can get nominated for a takeover.
