This is much better, a proper dialogue with reasoned viewpoints. Great points on both sides 👍

Kinda hoping it's Barney Wilkinson as Clyde. He really was brilliant. Jordan doesn't strike me as the touring type.

In fairness, I think one of the aims of TLBT is that Henry Fraser wanted to show what the family went through following the accident and how their actions helped him, which is probably why the focus is often on them more than Henry himself.
I will say that the hyperbolic bloggers really need to calm down on their OTT gushing, this was a lovely warm-hearted show but it's certainly not the life-changing earth-shattering masterpiece some are making it out to be!

Thank you, been holding my tongue from saying this too! *cough Strange Loop Yeah, I posted maybe twice saying it was dreadful and then left the thread alone. You're returning to this thread to continually slate the show, it's unnecessary. You didn't like it, we get it.

Feelings aren't facts...3 stars is VERY generous x For someone who disliked the show so much, you certainly enjoy being on this thread! Thank you, been holding my tongue from saying this too!

Joseph, Aspects and Cinderella would way lower for me! Surprised that Starlight Express didn't make the list as well.

I've heard snippets and leaks of some of the album, I think it's going to be a good one 😁

I'm always surprised when people don't see the reveal coming - I guess having known the show for so long it doesn't come as a shock to me, but I still think it's staged pretty clearly from the beginning what's happening (but I'm always pleasantly surprised when there is an OH moment for the audience) (Took me ages to work out that OH was not an acronym there!) I find that if I know there's a twist coming, I can work out what it will be. (Best example was The Sixth Sense.) If I'm not expecting a twist -- as here -- I'm more likely to be taken by surprise. Same! I guessed The Sixth Sense 10 minutes in and nobody believed me! 🤣

Musically it sounds similar to DEH but not in any other sense.

I knew nothing about the show before going in and the reveal came as a complete surprise to me too. Very cleverly done but obvious once you replay it back 😀

Funny enough, how I gave the production 3 stars (still stand by it), yet come back to read the variety of reactions on this thread, most curious. And a month after seeing the production the performances haunt me still, Jamie’s gradual meltdown as Dan and Jack Wolfe’s I’m Alive in particular, still hear it in my head in repeat. First time seeing this actor and I’m already wondering what he’s doing next. It really is quite peculiar now deep this story touched me even though I wasn’t impressed with the songs at all, the essential part of it. Somewhere in the parallel universe this exist as a play that I would rave about… Give the score a couple more listens, I promise it's worth it and it'll grow on you 😁

I felt similar about the score the night I saw it, but 2 weeks later, I've listened to it probably a dozen times and watched 3 Broadway bootlegs (thanks YouTube). It's definitely more "slow reveal" than "instant win" but I really do like it now. 😁

I agree, I thought it was a brilliant production, the cast were perfect and the score really does get into your brain and stay there, but I too found the second act a bit relentlessly bleak and the finale doesn't rectify the balance enough. But it's still one of the best things I've seen in a long time.

I saw it in Cambridge a month ago, which was my third time seeing the show overall (across 15 years or so), and enjoyed this latest performance the most out of all three. It's still really powerful. A reimagining would be interesting but they'd have to be careful not to lose that power.

Damn Chicago are so lucky 🤣 They need to give it a good score but I'd throw money at this. Megan Hilty! 😍

A bit of eye-mist from me too. The "Guide You" scene was just brilliant, and loads of lovely family moments that were really sweet as well. I'm back reviewing it next week so it'll be interesting to see if they make any changes between now and then.

I volunteer there. Our first show back was due to be And Then There Were None, made in house and opening on Thursday. So gutting for everyone involved, and all of the other shows visting this month. It felt eerily similar to Covid times when we learned today it was closing for the foreseeable future. Hope it doesn't take too long to fix, and also hope it doesn't affect too many more venues.

Interesting that all of the songs released so far are from the second act. Hopefully the Act 1 numbers are just as good 👍

She may not be the greatest singer on earth but she puts on a bloody good show and she's had 35 years of success. It's a pretty strong back catalogue and she keeps delivering. Long may she continue. Tension is the catchiest song she's done in years 😁

Has anyone sat in the front row for this? How "compromised" are the elevated scenes? Thanks! The front row will be absolutely fine. Great seats. Thank you 😁

I'm just happy for Pasha that it gets him out of the house. He barely does anything, just walks around a lot, then tries to act a bit in the second half. The guy from The Wanted isn't any better either. But it's a success for the dancers at least.

I suffered through it at Curve as I was on a freebie. The ensemble are phenomenal but otherwise this was as mediocre as they come.

Does anyone know who is Deloris on the next leg of the tour? I notice Lesley Joseph is still Mother Superior but Sandra Marvin seems to have finished with the role. Landi Oshinowo 😁

If you've already paid out then you should definitely go, it's only a couple of hours out of your life. We all like different things, you might end up loving it. Some people have clearly related to it a lot and it's resonated with them, maybe it'll do the same for you 👍
