So sad. She was truly one of the very best of her generation.

Sad it has taken a pandemic to close the Lyttleton, a theatre you cannot hear in from half way back and which has a stage so wide it literally suits nothing except Russian plays set in apartments with lots of iron windows.

Does much need to change in the text for the gay couple? I can’t remember precisely but overall I don't think so.

I don't hate the BBC, I admired Prince Philip and I think his story should be known BUT the coverage was ridiculous. One channel dedicated to the event please and leave the rest alone with possibly banners on programmes and anything obviously ‘off’ removed. I hope they review the inevitable coverage of the Queen’s death - long may she live and reign - in the light of the complaints. Doubtful the BBC will be around by then.....

You’ve gotta admire the sheer genius of this - short play, different casts and quality to tempt the ‘collectors; if someone falls sick they pop in one of the other duos, great script and central location. Really not a q of ‘are you going?’ But ‘ how many are you going to?’

Putting my prediction out there Kate is H if for no other reason that an emotionally wrenching face off with Steve and his ‘mate’ Kate would be satisfying? Kate is the only one who has been undercover throughout in just about every station going, yet has worked with a few of these people who either know she is AC12 or fail to recognise her? S4 mentions Buckles has worked with Kate before in a past undercover investigation, worked with her in S4 and now again in S6, Farida knows Kate from S4 and S6 and so far Ryan doesn’t seem in the least bit worried Kate has interviewed him previously as a child. We’re also never told why Kate and her partner have split and custody is with her partner? Is she trying to distance herself for their protection?. Side theory: Jo is deep deep undercover, possibly AC12 or investigating Kate. Nah.....like the thing about her marriage and the relationship with Steve, wow that would be tv fireworks. But the betrayal for all us viewers might bring down the government..on the other hand..

I’ve only ever seen him ‘old’. I liked his Lear very much, at the courtyard theatre in Stratford.

Might well be less. Factors such as transport, parking and cost begin to matter. As far as the virus is concerned, then full vaccination and probably further vaccination due to variants before really feeling ‘free’.

Well with Ian McKellen playing Hamlet, what can we expect? Are they scouring the Italia Conti for a promising King Lear aged about 10 and a half?

What or who do the media base their idea of the British family on? All this Christmas palaver, the cancelling of, now the summer holiday abroad. Millions of people won’t be able to afford a holiday at all this year. Oh and have you seen the ads for Easter on the telly? Tables laden with food and jokey, not so funny M&S ads? I know we all aspire and should try to remain cheerful but honestly....harrumph of the day.

It’s like they can’t be bothered to do the techie work. They could have made something really good with people in their local parks cavorting etc. And if there are any pro bubbles then that would have been fun to see and good publicity. Oh well.

Chard Witlow: Brilliant parody by Henry Reid read by Dylan Thomas! Brilliant of course. All sorts of things to say about this like I wish I had heard it at uni when trying to decipher the poetry or later when I was trying to teach it. Can you imagine,I was teaching this to a sixth form comp group who didn't know anything about Christianity ( I swear I explained the whole of European Christianity in twenty minutes) let alone had ever read anything like it despite my best ministrations at the ‘O’ level teaching the year before. But don’t let me put you off. On the contrary, go and be mesmerised. You will be thinking of the lines in years to come.

Yep that was it. Can’t remember which date I saw/heard it. Eliot has dramatic skills, no doubt, skills which funnily enough come through in this, with skilled actor, in some ways more than in his actual plays.

Yep, read that: the ones without published versions except for the Folio. Interesting. Could be good with a couple of big names and decent directors. I live in hope.
By the way, I did watch Dream ( I know you are all panting fo know about it) and it wasn’t my cup of tea. It was something that was probably fun to do and a learning process for new techie skills, but had nothing to do with Shakespeare and very little to do with theatre in that it was all ‘filmed’ albeit with audience interaction. Personally I hope this isn’t the way theatre is going.

Just read that they want the actors to turn up in person and no zooms allowed. Isn’t that a bit counter productive. Surely better to have a winner express delight live on a zoom than someone accept in his or her place with a dim smile? And you can rely on actors to make a bit of an ‘entrance’ even on a zoom.

Hello, Prof.MM Gloomy day eh? I’m not saying it is getting better nor that it isn’t getting worse but there has been worse...if you see what I mean. I think our awareness of problems, or rather or airing in public at last of some problems, is in fact a ‘good’ thing. Wouldn’t we all like to be reading those history books when our ‘age’ is discussed, probably described as ‘the decline of Western enlightenment ‘ or ‘the rise of a new Enlightenment’ - who knows?

The big unveiling of the new UK Govt. Media briefing room at a cost of £2.6 million pounds for the renovation. I was hoping for something a bit more for the money spent. It just looks really ugly. I just hope at that price the room comes with one of those clicker devices for the slide shows. Do they choose that colour cos it is best for tv?
