I think a good idea though could be a two handed play in the vein of Saving Mr Banks

I think ‘Saving Mr Banks’ will end up on stage in one way or another at some point - it’s a limited character movie based primarily on conversations, making it rather suited for the stage imo. It’s whether Disney would want to invest it a straight up play (with the odd Mary song?).
As for a movie about the creation of Disneyland, please please please do not include that horrendous Small World song. The horror.
The Walt Disney Company turns 100 in a few years and I’ve often thought that would be the right time for Disney to tell Walt’s story, either on stage or on film.

Hmm, maybe but the mouse house are very very careful about portrayals of WD, by all accounts he wasnt that nice, there were strikes at the studio, quite a few of the animated films didnt make money and of course how to show someone who was a heavy smoker. In Mr Banks it is alluded to in Hanks coughing and there is a disclaimer in the credits relating to tobacco use. So an interesting life but one i doubt we will see on screen. |

I love Saving Mr Banks, I think a stage production of that would be amazing in truth. And the film features three amazing performances by Tom, Emma and Colin, those roles are just waiting to be a showcase for actors!

Check out the Perfect American by Peter Jungk. I loved the book and I liked the Philip Glass opera of the same name.

Did Walt Disney go bankrupt before he became successful ? Maybe there is a story there, interspersed with the characters he created singing and dancing.

I'm not sure a full "Walt Disney Story" again is that interesting. If it were just Disney songs, that's done on a pretty regular basis, really in various formats in the parks, on stage and in ice-shows. Really what musical stage-show features a best-of selection of Disney songs ? |

I think a good idea though could be a two handed play in the vein of Saving Mr Banks This is a bit OT, but Miles Jupp is doing a play called 'The Life I Lead' about David Tomlinson (Mr Banks in Mary Poppins and Mr Brown in Bedknobs and Broomsticks) which sounds like it could be quite fascinating - though not sure how Disney orientated it would be. It's only doing a couple of nights in each venue on tour so perhaps it's a solo show? |
