Amazon is describing it as a 'musical play'. All clear?

The marketing for the West End transfer seems to state that it is a musical on the official website ourladiesthemusical.co.uk and on the Facebook and Twitter pages. They're going to need a few more URLs at this rate. ourladiesthemusical.co.uk ourladiestheplay.co.uk ourladiestheplaywithmusic.co.uk ourladiesthemusicalplay.co.uk

Thought I'd missed this through having to cancel my ticket for the NT run (because I didn't think my dodgy knee could withstand the rush from a matinee in the West End and up to the top of the Dorfman); now I may have to consider seeing it after all, especially if it's a revamped production. But I'm certainly not rushing to book; I shall await the reviews and the deals/day seats etc.

Interestingly a couple of jobs on it have been posted that state is a play. So that's that cleared up...

Whatever they add, however they revamp it, wouldn't it always be a "play with songs", like Over The Rainbow and Piaf, in that the songs don't move the story forward, they're just sort of there?

Would say to anyone who enjoyed the high energy performances in this one (as my daughter and I did) to take a trip over to the Theatre Royal Stratford East this week to catch up with The Glasgow Girls. My 17 year old son (not easy to please and certainly not a musicals person) enjoyed it so much that he has been wishing there was a soundtrack recording. Just another quick shout out for Glasgow Girls which I saw first time round and am going to see again in Stratford East this week - funny, heartwarming and great music. Glasgow Girls was a National Theatre of Scotland co-production - I see that there is a documentary on the first ten years of the NTS on BBC2 Scotland on Tuesday at 9pm. If you have Sky you can get BBC2 Scotland even if you're south of the border, but I assume it will be on iPlayer afterwards. Glasgow Girls is fabulous - saw it at Oxford and WOW. Great music and characters and disciplined storytelling that really hits home. Thanks for the recommendations to see Glasgow Girls earlier in this thread. I caught it tonight at the Liverpool Playhouse (the same venue where I saw Our Ladies last year) because of the similarities flagged up here and I was blown away. Loved the music, especially the title song, and the passion and energy of the performances of the girls was something else, ably assisted by the wonderful Terry Neason as Noreen ("I told them I didn't want to appear in a musical") and Callum Cuthbertson ("Crying tears of happiness isn't an emotion usually associated with the Scottish education system"). Having a fiddler (Laura Jane Wilkie) on the stage for so many of the songs was an unexpected bonus. The style of storytelling was right up my street. The only gripe (a minor one) was the interval. I wish the show was still played straight through as it was in Edinburgh but other than that it was impossible to fault. The story comes across all the more powerfully being based on real life events and with its relevance to the current political climate. Definitely a show you need to see if you enjoyed Our Ladies. For me, Glasgow Girls narrowly eclipses the latter. First five star show of the year!

Tables and chairs and bar stools on stage. Timeout have them at £20 for the first few weeks. probably good enough if it's 100 minutes without an interval

Saw this last summer at the National. Very highly recommended; one of the most involving, moving, fun, and enjoyable evenings I spent in a theatre last year.

Are the stools chrome or wooden? And three- or four-legged? Feet on bar or dangling in air or grounded?

So I just brought one of the stage seats from Time Out for Wednesday 17th May 7:30pm but unfortunately I cannot make it so I was wondering if anyone here would like it for £15? The tickets RRP is £30 and the voucher was sold for £20 but I'd like it to go to good use, so thats a nice 50% off!
I can forward you the email, you just present it at the box office, there are no names or addresses on it.
Let me know!

I was at the Press Night for this tonight and honestly, it was phenomenal. I can't recall the last time I saw a standing ovation so instantaneously at the end of the show. I reckon it's a particular type of humour (i.e. mine) and if you don't like crudeness and potty language you'd probably hate it, but it had me in stitches most of the way through.
I didn't really know what to expect going into it, and there were some more serious themes touched upon which I wasn't expecting, so it's just crude and crass for the sake of it.
Wholeheartedly recommend; can't wait to see the reviews!
Five stars.

I really enjoyed this at the NT but find the transfer a bit strange. I hope it does well but it didn't blow me away and I wonder who I'd recommend it to.

I thought I would have really loved this, but whilst I enjoyed it, I didn't totally connect with it somehow. The cast are excellent though and have superb voices.

Is this a play with a music or a musical? Looks a lot like Scottish Schoolgirls crossed with Spring Awakening It's a revue With people who can't sing

Is there any way to instigate an intervention via the internet? When I saw this show I was sickened Not only by what was on stage But at the audience who seemed to find Promiscuity and profanity casual social abuse of alcohol Depicted by under age characters So hysterical Having worked on the other end of this And seen the consequences There is nothing empowering or funny about it To then try and dress it up for middle class audiences As an alternative and stylish night out Is laughable The characters depicted in the show Need a stern telling off And a social worker And I found the description of having sex with a dying person After removing his catheter Particularly deplorable And perverted And likely it would be a criminal matter for the hospital Rather than entertainment The two people I went with left before the end and didn't speak with me again

Indeed, let's not allow young women and girls to see range of experiences, desires and traumas on stage in all their ugly realities or give them an opportunity to celebrate their bonds and friendships in a forthright way. How outrageous. They should instead stick with the more classic west end fare - outdated, sexist white male stories with celebrity actors. Good plan.

Is showing them how to be chavvy abusers a good plan though?
Seems to underestimate female capabilities just as badly as those outdated sexist plays...
