Thank you. Is it definitely the Lloyd Webber? Could well be a revival of the Union's 2015 production which was Labey/Taylor, not Lloyd Webber, though no confirmation either way on the ticket page.

Wouldn’t risk booking until this is clarified. I’d put money on it being the non-ALW version considering, as you say, they’ve done that there before.

They did Whistle Down the Wind a couple years back, back as others have said it was the Richard Taylor version, I would wait until you book s this one is awful.

I found the ALW version to be terrible. Gale Edwards and Hal Prince couldn't make it work.

Oh God - am in two minds. Love the ALW show but am desperate for a decent big budget West End production so I can get the dreadful Kenwright tour out of my mind. That said I would like to see it again....
Not a massive fan of the Sauna/Union though. And am also of an age where I am over unallocated seating. So think overall might be relieved if it's not the ALW version so I won't have to go.
But anyway, West End revivals of Whistle and also The Beautiful Game (never gonna happen sadly) would be high on my wish list.

I would love to see ALW's Whistle again so here's hoping, even though The Union is an absolute horror show.
This and Beautiful Game are the only 2 Webber musicals I can actually stomach.

I wonder if ALW will give Whistle "The Other Palace" treatment. Get Jim Steinman in town, do some re-work and do a proper revival. The score really is one of his most under-appreciated ones and I think it's a fascinating story. It's hard to pull off - as it all hangs on that one moment when "the Man" says "Jesus Christ" - it has to be said in a way that's sarcastic but not too much - and the kids, especially Swallow have to be naïve but not too childish (or the whole swallow/Man relationship gets really disgusting). It's a tight rope. But the score is so good, it's worth another go. And the London production I believe made it's investment back.
Interesting - I remember reading an interview with ALW that he looks back and wishes he had continued with the Hal Prince version. Wished that he and Hal talked about it when they had their interview at the other palace

I was listening to some of the score today, as i've not played it in years. It's a real mix of song styles and some work better than others, but some of it is very Jim Steinman. Tire Tracks and Broken Hearts is still a guilty pleasure. It's so bad i love it.

Its funny how when the score first debuted (with the all-star "covers" album first) how many people speculated that Steinman wrote the music rather than ALW. Was surprised that the score never got the play over in the states that it did in the UK. I remember thinking if Backstreet Boys had recorded "No Matter What" rather than Boyzone, it probably would've been a hit here as well

Reading Gerald Schonefeld autobiography who was one half of the Shubert's theatre organisation with Bernard Jacobs the other half, they both loved British 'super-musicals' and made a lot of money from them.
However Gerald had quite a torrid time convincing the producers of Big to close at their flagship Shubert theatre, but the producers saw sense as losing so much each week wasn't healthy. They had a new show lined up to go in, which happened to be Whistle Down the Wind, which we know didn't happen after that terrible and fatal Washington try out.
I love the score and is one of Andrew Lloyd Webber's underrated score, the song 'Unsettled Score' is just breath-taking, Kenwright's production cut this glorious song. One of the last songs 'Nature of the Beast' is dark, chilling and awesome, excellent trade off between the man and swallow. Also the title song has me humming, especially sung by Tina Arena.
