Who knew that my very good friend Tibidabo had such influence over my very good friend BurlyBeaR. 🙂 And why were you both up so early on a Sunday morning?

Is Bonnie that well qualified though? Being able to dance doesn’t mean you should be telling anyone else how to do it, let alone judging them. Alesha Dixon was a stretch in that respect and only able to do it because it was straight after she’d been a contestant so she had recent training in every dance. When did anyone last see Bonnie do a Cha Cha Cha or an Argentine Tango? Anyway she’s too close in age to Ballas, they’ll be wanting someone young because that panel has been looking decidedly middle aged for some time, even with DB on it. How about Ashley Thingy Pussycat Doll?, I think Ashley could be a good call. Well, in the sense that I think you’re right, not that I think she’d be any good. Given how well Courtney Act is going on Dancing With the Stars, could she be a contender?

Perhaps Kimberley Wyatt is a better call given her previous judging experience? She still ‘dances’ too in her crazy dance/music combo whose name escapes me.

Surely I get at least one more very than he does?☹️ I don't know about him, but I have to keep myself amused until the first tube arrives to take me home after a hot Saturday night... Lots of people are mentioning names from other countries' versions of Strictly. Apart from the people who live in those countries, how do you all watch these? I'd love to. I have no idea who half of these people are.

Flavia would be a good shout too, a former winner has done a load of live shows since leaving Strictly, very telegenic too.
Ashley was a judge on Dancing On Ice and an excellent dancer on Strictly but didn't seem very popular with the public .

Ashley would be an appointment that would make me seriously consider stopping watching.
Her being a contestant was a mis-step on the part of the producers. Her past dance experience was just too much for me (and many, many others). Plus it was perfectly clear from the public voting that she was not popular with the public.
Bringing her back after such a negative reaction would be a huge f-you to the viewers and would damage the Strictly brand.
If she wants a future as a dance judge, Dancing with the Stars would be more appropriate. Just keep her away from Strictly in the UK.

I had no issue with her being a contestant, but I'm well aware I'm in the minority in being perfectly happy to see contestants who can all actually dance and make it a proper competition.
That said though, I didn't think much of her as a dancer at all compared to many other contestants in the past (she wasn't even the best last year), and found her extremely irritating. I would certainly mute her if she was made a judge, and possibly stop watching altogether given how little I care about the show nowadays anyway. It's already a pale shadow of the brilliant show it used to be, so having someone like Ashley as a judge would really just be a continuation of the decline.

Strictly is the BBC’s flagship show and,in my opinion,is still a wonderful show.

Kevin and Stacey are apparently an item now. Also Kevin has been married 3 times! We never heard any mention of the first two Mrs Clifton's when he was with Karen. He's giving Kat McPhee's future husband a run for his money!

As a slight tangent to this theme, James Jordan was the most wonderful, amazing revelation on Dancing on Ice. His routines gave my goosebumps goosebumps. Yes, it's fine if some people already have a head start in various different ways in my book.

Agree on James. He was fantastic and seemed genuinely thrilled to be part of the show and the eventual winner.

Rylan to join Zoe on It Takes Two. I know I shouldn't, but I just luurrrrrve Rylan! I love his Radio 2 show. Could this possibly mean that Ian might have been given the judge's position?

Much as I love Ian and he clearly knows his stuff but it would be a bit of a step back if they give the slot previously occupied by a woman to a man no? A nice evenly split judging panel of 2:2 is just right methinks.

Would Adam Garcia work on Strictly, he was a judge on Sky1’s Got to Dance a few years back so he has TV experience and was also a judge on the Australian version of Strictly aka Dancing with the Stars

I love me some Adam Garcia and he’s good at panel stuff but I agree with Ryan it’ll be difficult to justify a man being appointed. And actually in terms of dance critique and experience a gender balance is fairer on the pros and the contestants.

I don't really know a foxtrot from a jive but that hasn't really stopped Tess Daly so . . . I'm waiting for your call Zoe! Would Adam Garcia work on Strictly, he was a judge on Sky1’s Got to Dance a few years back so he has TV experience and was also a judge on the Australian version of Strictly aka Dancing with the Stars I can think of a couple of jobs I could get Adam to work on . . .

Carlos Acosta's name has also been added to the list, though he has just taken on the position of artistic director of Birmingham Royal ballet as well.

I’d watch the hell out of either of those.

There is a difference between a head start - so a limited amount of dance (including some training) and having made your career as a professional dancer
So I think there is a big difference between someone like Debbie who did have ballet training in her youth but whose career was not based around it and Ashley who was a professional dancer until the point (far more recently) that she transitioned to TV work.
I know the line gets blurrier when you get recent West End performers - but the main reason there was a backlash against Ashley was the fact that she had been a professional dancer in her own right. Not a singer who did a bit of dancing, not an actor who could learn choreo for a stage role - but a dancer who was trained and hired for her dancing.
There will always been different levels of starting ability/experience. But just as anyone who has made money out of baking/cooking is not allowed to be a contestant on Bake Off/Masterchef, anyone who has made dance their profession (within the last 20 years) should not be part of Strictly.

They are never gonna solve the 'who has been a dancer in previous life' thing because most celebs these days, the ones with a tiny bit of any training have had dance training of some kind. So there will always be a gap between these people and say, politicians who don’t dance. That is why they like presenters cos they are media friendly but haven’t danced. So three groups and always same people in the finals, the dance trained and the media person. The 'have not danced' get shoved off as we go along. Happy to be contradicted. ( o and the pro athlete with balance and a bit of personality does well sometimes unless they get over choreographed )

Natalie Lowe would be a great addition to the panel, last year she was great on It Takes Two when reviewing the previous live show performances. Other than that, give it back to Arlene Phillips who appeared to be dropped for no apparent reason before the 2009 season
