With so much love given to Hamilton, Heathers and Eugenius may reflect to the main demographic that vote for these awards. Also the nominations are so broad it is very likely that very few have seen all the nominees, so therefore make these awards rather pointless. I couldn’t agree more. What surprises me the most is why the Industry has bought into it. Surely it should be named the ‘Most Popular Social Media Fanbase Awards’ or the ‘I Never Saw It, But I Like Her On The Telly Awards’. I know my comments may sound petty to some, but you get my point!

I'm going tomorrow too. Very excited to get dressed up and watch the performances. Should be a fun evening at the very least.

‘I Never Saw It, But I Like Her On The Telly Awards’. I think you just invented the most popular theatre awards ever.

Clashes with the Endeavour finale then. Hope Patsy Ferran gets a gong - will be astonished if she doesn't.

Standing ovation for Patti. Heathers songs horrible. Sorry Loved the Sondheim opening and great to see Hannah Waddingham on stage. The drag queen is hilarious and the other host out of his depth. Loving the Lion King tote bag. Sitting by Jamie and real Jamie.

Well I did have a lot of fun at Little Shop of Horrors this summer but I really don’t think it deserved to win Best Revival over Company!

Company was robbed.
That is all.

Let’s face it Hamilton should have won. But like most public voted awards it always ends up going in favour to something that has a higher social media outreach. However congratulations to Heathers and Carrie. Whilst not the greatest musical of all time, the show meant a lot to the audience it was aimed towards.

When Heathers fans go after people on Twitter, saying Hamilton isn't a new musical, when both shows originally premiered IN THE SAME YEAR.

Something was up with the Heathers performance, it did not sound great.

The fact that Heathers beat Hamilton really tells you all you need to know about the calibre (or lack thereof) of these awards, never mind the other crazy decisions...

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I would be WAY less salty about the WOS Awards if they were only honest enough and self-aware enough to go by the name 'the WOS Popularity Contest'.

Vanessa Redgrave, best supporting actress for The Inheritance? That's the jaw-dropper for me. Lordy, who was she up against?

You are joking? Vanessa Redgrave? Her performance was very poor the night I saw it. Her accent all over the place, mumbles as usual so lost most of her lines and a somewhat cliched, obvious interpretation. That she is still on stage ok but award?

I do find it quite funny though when people say things like “it’s a popularity contest so it doesn’t count/matter” but then still get really annoyed when the things they wanted to win don’t. I’m actually surprised that Carrie and Heathers managed to beat out Hamilton, given that they didn’t manage it in the Broadway World Awards. Didn’t expect Little Shop to win so much (really didn’t enjoy it when I saw it), but I suppose it had more name recognition than others in most of the categories it was nominated in

And while I’m at it I might as well repeat what I said at the time that Patti LuPone was the only one whose words were lost in Company. I didn’t like the show but I could hear the rest of their lyrics ok. I thought her performance was tired and obvious.
Looks like WOS decides the awards on something other than actual performance. I can’t comment on the other musicals except that Hamilton would take some beating. The main acting awards ok I suppose. Sophie O was pretty good.
