Only till July.Rocky finishes in Melbourne on July 2nd. Then he’s back here for good. So its very possible he could do it… It's off to Adelaide after Melbourne, I guess he’ll stay with it! Nope he’s not doing Adelaide only Sydney and Melbourne. Has gigs back here in July too..

Saw Grease last night, first time since around late 90's.
I didn't hate it, but didn't love it either.
Dan as Danny just doesn't do it for me, there was nothing likeable about the character, and the strange noises he makes during Sandy was jus weird and off-putting. Solomon possibly could have made a great Kenickie, but something didn't quite click for me. Olivia as Sandy was fab - once past the lack of blonde hair - I get that the blonde was a throwback to the movie, but between the movie and 90s stage version, it's what I expect Sandy to look like. Jocasta was fab as expected, as were the rest of the cast overall. Louise as Teen Angel kind of worked, but I probably could have done without the 'stunt casting' but get that will bring in people that may not see the show.
The staging, didn't massively work, the whole gym set I just don't get.
Overall I enjoyed, but if I could, I would have brought back the 90s production, it always will have a special place in my heart.

I saw this last summer and actually left in the interval. The idea of seeing Louise as teen idol...god.

I saw this from the front row on Monday. There were some premium seats unsold in the rows behind me. It's largely the same production as last year, so I can really echo my previous comments, and say it's enjoyable, but don't think too much. For everyone who left during the interval, I do think there's more to the second half than the first half.
Louise Redknapp doesn't do Monday performances. I didn't realise this when I booked, but no matter, as Darren Bennett was on and you can't get much better.
I had a family sat behind me, who I'd classify as daughter, mother and grandmother, where at least two of them needed everything translating, which got rather annoying. Although their English seemed better during Hopelessly Devoted.
They have had added a new announcement at the start about being kind to the front of house staff. This venue still has the door staff who must have been trained by the same staff as the Hammersmith Apollo crew.
The new cast is good. They've put very different actor types in many of the roles, which takes a bit of getting used to. Quite a lot of restaging. Danny no longer attempts to launch a paper plane at the audience during act 2. Jocasta Almgill remains the highlight to watch. You do get to enjoy George Michaelides as Sonny, sounding exactly like his Romeo from Newsies, quite different to Damon Gould, but a very accomplished dancer, and he even manages to fit a cartwheel-backflip combination into the show. I was very impressed by Liam McHugh's vocals as Johnny Casino, as well as Sario Solomon's dancing (which he didn't get chance to show off in Allegiance). I'd better not single out anyone else, but there are some covers I'd really like to see.
I fear false memory syndrome here, but the Hand Jive Contest is Halloween themed, which is what at points last season, but was it always like that? Anyway, an impressive set and brilliant dancing during that scene.
I will certainly go back. There are some incredible ticket offers floating around. But this isn't high on the priority list with other shows that have much more limited runs. This plays until 28 October, and even with Jason and Peter returning, that's a lot of seats to fill.

Police were called during the show tonight to remove people for “a disturbance”. Anyone know what happened???

So selfish. If you want to get drunk, just go to a pub.

They (now? have always?) have an announcement saying that they expect everyone to be treated with respect including front of house and sound teams.
I saw Grease this afternoon. I'll post full thoughts sometime but the summary is the musical needs to be put to bed for a good few years before being old enough to be about "the old days" as there are some very uncomfortable issues with it in 2023.

I agree the show needs to be rested, to me it just doesn't feel like Grease. They should have dug out the old 90's script!

I somehow ended up seeing Grease twice last week. The first time was with a discounted ticket, but then an even better discount offer came along so I made a second visit. I also had rather a problem with my eye watering (and being unable to keep it open) the first time - which happens sometimes with hot weather and bright lights, so I didn't enjoy this so much.
I was very lucky to get to see Luke Redmore on as Danny. I've always liked Luke and he sings Sandy perfectly.
Lots of Australian accents around me both shows, so this is bringing in the visitors. On a separate note, I hadn't realised how many people just come for the second half. I made the mistake of moving to an empty seat and got caught out by this (although I did just move again). Funnily enough, the two ladies who arrived then left straight after Beauty School Dropout. I did briefly spot a phone camera being prepared. I didn't see it being used, but if I was a betting man, there's a site out there somewhere filled with clips of Jason Donovan's brief appearance.
The audiences weren't perfect, but I've seen worse, and the new pre-show announcement must be helping.
They also name-checked Alex Christian during the hand jive scene one night, so I suspect he was in the audience somewhere.
All enjoyable enough anyway. Yes, the ending is horribly flawed by modern standards, but I don't know how to fix it, the music is good, and sometimes you just need a light day out.

I saw Grease at the Dominion and also an amateur production in Surrey just a few days apart not long ago. It's a favourite musical - though I've never got over the lovely Debbie Gibson being off when I first saw it on stage back in 1993.
For me that lighter, funnier, more joyous original available to amateur musical groups works better than the ex-Curve grittier version. Maybe next time they'll revive the original. In the meantime go amateur for that 1990s script ! (eg Central Theatre Chatham in October and Hampton on the Hill Theatre in December)

This has closed again now, but I saw this a few times in the closing fortnight. Highlights were seeing Sario Solomon's debut as Teen Angel, along with a rare appearance of Joshua Steel as Vince Fontaine. Plus an excellent mockup matinee. Any performance where the names of all the cast are worked into the script, plus one which has George Michaelides in a bikini, can't be faulted (in one of those bizarre twists, there were lots of Newsies regulars in, and I nearly walked into Mark Samaras - looking fabulous with blond hair - on Oxford Street afterwards).
I see this is touring next year. I do like the slighter darker take of this version. I wouldn't be surprised if this if back in London before too long.

(Or the one that I want-ed as it were). Very fond memories of that original Dominion production and its scale, and the launch pad or boost for many careers.

Everyone on fine form tonight (apart from the singing of the woman behind - but thankfully her children largely refused the requests from her to join in).
Odd seeing this on such a small stage. A few weird changes with lines cut and changed etc, and with Those Magic Changes, but all holds together well. A very strong cast, especially Marley Fenton, who really rocked his slicked hair. Perfect sound quality too, far better than in London.
Hope to see the tour again before too long.
