Seems a bit random. It's one of those pantos that I vaguely recall being done back in the day (see also Babes In The Wood), but has gone out of fashion in recent years.

It got great reviews in Newcastle and has plenty of casting opportunities and would make sense for Qdos to take opportunity to create a new set etc for future productions.
Babes in the wood is a great panto but sadly has got overtaken in recent years but the more well known title Robin hood, although not dissimilar to each other

I mean we thought the variety show element was bad before. If it really is Goldilocks it will be just 3 hours of variety.

Having spent many a year at the QDOS Edinburgh pantomime growing up with the same lead cast every year I personally see no problem here. Each to their own, but I really enjoyed Snow White this year. Will be very interesting to see who the 'guest' leads are this year. Praying they don't cheapen the formula by going for a reality star!

I guess this just shows the business side of show! Julian, Paul, Nigel and Gary = ticket sales = profit for the Palladium = repeat every year until further notice.

I have just checked the its-behind-you.com website which is run by QDOS and there is no mention as far as I can see about this years Palladium Panto. Goldilocks does strike me as an odd choice.

The post on IBY is by someone called Mark, who has a mate that works at the Palladium. Perhaps this 'mate' is called Carl. 😉

I think most people go and see it because of the cast, not the title.

I think most people go and see it because of the cast, not the title. Not strictly true, certain panto titles are known to be bigger sellers regardless of cast. There's a reason Qdos has multiple Cinderella sets compared to Goldilocks or Dick Whittington

I think it was around late April or May last year. However, since they have aready released the cast list, I do not know why they are waiting.

^You been reading punternet again, horton ? Honestly, someone who was in a nearby show told me their own advance was massive prior to Goldilocks opening, because the public didn't fancy that title. However, once it opened, word of mouth packed the Theatre Royal and really soaked up a lot of business! I suspect Goldilocks at the Palladium might start with lower expectations but will be considered a "return to form".

I do wonder whether if they will go for a longer season this time. There weren't many performances that were not sold out or very close to being so.

Paul Zerdin is doing his one man show at the Duchess Theatre on 25th November 2019. Just saying. At The Duchess? Why such a small venue? I'd have thought that he could do a night(s) at a much larger venue. Maybe he's just trying out new material for the panto??

I would reply with "Oh yes he is" but this is Paul Zerdin. We all know he isn't.
