It would slow the process still further, is the reason. You think ? Not ATG not wanting you to see they haven’t released a whole bunch of seats better than the ones they’ve fobbed you off with then ?

It would slow the process still further, is the reason. Surely in 2018 that seems unlikely?

Well I checked today with a friend who was looking for tickets as well and didn’t have priority yesterday and when we got in it didn’t look like they had released anything better than what I bought yesterday. We tried a couple of dates and changed seats and Bands quite a lot but everything that came up was either restricted view or way back for way too much money. I bought her a good seat yesterday so she does not have to miss out completely but we didn’t buy any other tickets today. The tickets that were left were just not worth the price.

The 'benefits' of controlling seat allocation for ATG don't need to be quite as extreme as that. Even within individual areas, the fact that they control how seats are doled out means that the issues around gaps don't come up for them. Some theatres have strict rules on leaving individual seats between people and so on, and that 'problem' disappears when you don't allow users to select the seats in the first place.
However, my guess would be that this has less to do with wanting to control the process (or speed things up) and just to do with momentum. For all it's faults ATG have a site that 'works' and any big switch in the system means added short-term risks and costs, even if the long-term benefits are large.

It's not good enough to repeatedly only offer the same crap seats with restricted views at Band A prices. Totally ridiculous.

‘Premium’ is now effectively Band A.

They finally have the seat map back up! And dynamic pricing has already kicked in on at least some dates.

They finally have the seat map back up! And dynamic pricing has already kicked in on at least some dates. Comparing the seat map between sites, I hadn't realised that each site is assigned very different seats, and the availability seems to be quite different. Presumably theatre-goers gravitate towards some sites more than others.
e.g. 20th April has very different availability between ATG, SeeTickets and Ticketmaster.
Do more experienced TB users know which site is most likely to get the front-row stalls tickets (assuming they haven't already been on sale)? Or are they set aside for in-person day tickets?

Thanks to having the seating plan up, I’ve managed to move my original seat C1 to a more central N11. Great service by ATG staff tonight to swap the seat without any hassle. I should of checked the Monkey’s website before purchase as it’s a designated red seat on the site.

I'm surprised that Hiddleston has been cast as Robert - I thought he'd be Jerry...

But I still think it looks “wrong”. Let’s see. Oh yeah! I should read the whole thread before jumping in I guess... I have never seen the play (only read it) but in my head, informed by the writing, Jerry is pathetic and lovely and Robert is pretty awful and repressed. Hiddleston has that softer face that I just can't pair up with Robert. I wasn't convinced by his Coriolanus (ooh matron), I don't think he 'does' the hardarse characters particularly well. Even his Henry V was a bit like a boy playing in the mud.

It’ll certainly be interesting to see if he does go all the way with the hardness, or if he tries to soften the character. In the past his strong suit has been making unlikable characters sympathetic and relatable. I’d really like to see him fully commit to a hard and unsympathetic characteristation.

Thought it would be Zawe. Didn't she do the rehearsed reading with TH at some point?

Happy about (and for) Zawe, and Charlie Cox was good in The Lover/The Collection some years ago. It'll make the Marvel fans happy!

Nice, a good enough cast that it's worth people getting excited about it, but not enough for me to have to overcome my Pinter aversion. *phew!*

Yes, she played Emma in the extract reading with Tom at the Pinter Gala. Plus they did the Intelligence Squared Dickens vs Tolstoy debate together. I had a sneaking suspicion there was something bigger brewing. They've definitely got chemistry.

Great news, I've just started watching Charlie Cox in Daredevil over the last couple of months and I've really been getting into it (shames its been cancelled, but heres hoping it gets another chance on the new Marvel TV channel we are supposedly getting), I also thought he was great in Boardwalk Empire.

Really really glad that I have tickets to this (although somewhat surprised that there are quite a few good ones left, all that worry for nothing) and with the casting news of yesterday! Loved Zawe Ashton in various TV programmes and in The Maids a couple of years ago so really happy about that, but I'm very out of touch and haven't seen anything with Charlie Cox in since Stardust :/

For anyone holding out for cheaper tickets. If you're under 30, a key worker or on JSA, a tweet just went out confirming that £15 tickets will start going on sale in Feb:

Cox cannot be a worse Jerry than Jeremy Irons.
Don't @ me.

Probably no-one but me will care about this snippet of trivia - according to Zawe Ashton this production was only pulled together after the Pinter Gala in October. Literally she was being asked if they were in rehearsals for a full production by a bunch of people at the afterparty, which made them think they should actually do one.
Quick work putting the whole thing together, given that they announced in in November.
