I only saw the show on Broadway with Phillipa Soo but I found it mediocre at best. Not sure why it would return when big name shows are going to have trouble filling seats post Covid. I am all for full employment of actors, especially these days so I hope its a success for them, but it does seem like a tough sell. Fair does ..but its a very different show...

I get so confused between this show, Once and Romantics Anonymous. Once features a Hoover. I wish all musicals did... Carrie going to the ball on a Henry?

Yes it’s going to the Criterion.. and quite early in summer I gather. Pretty risky! I'd heard differently... Other Palace wanting it back for an xmas 2021 run? I'd heard differently... Other Palace wanting it back for an xmas 2021 run? No, it’s the Criterion Guess we’ll have to wait and see! Guess we’ll have to wait and see! We will and I shall be VICTORIOUS! 🤣 I heard it was going into the Dominion.

Ah yes, the classic musical-theatre prop hoover. Little West End easter egg, a hoover features in every show, you just need to look reeeeealy hard.

I heard it was going into the Dominion. I’m there. Can they get the war of the worlds set back in for it as there will be room for that plus the tour stage

And contrary to popular belief, Glinda does not stand on a lift for Defying Gravity in Wicked, but a really big hoover up in the flies gets switched on. Its down to the strong cast members holding onto her dress to stop her from getting whisked up into the super-dyson every night.

And then there were three.
Looks like an announcement is coming on Tuesday!

And then there were three. Looks like an announcement is coming on Tuesday! Two now. I think this is pretty clever marketing, but also dangerously close to April Fool's day. Imagine if this turns out to be a huge prank!

It’s not. It’s opening at the Criterion in the summer.

Word of mouth should be good for this once it's up and running. I wonder if we might see a name in the role of Nino in the West End. Don't get me wrong, Chris Jared was great as Nino at The Other Palace and I'd be very happy to see him again but I could see the producers going for someone like Kevin Clifton for the new run.

I find it rather pretentious and self important rather than clever marketing. This is a pretty niche show teasing an announcement over five days as if it was the second coming of British theatre or something. If they’d put as much thought and effort into the sound design the audience in Manchester might have been able to hear it! 😑

Isn't it just a bit of lighthearted fun?

I'm just wondering where they got the raspberries from...in March!
There were two things my gran regarded as a culinary treat; a dressed crab from Bridlington and a punnet of rasps at the height of summer. Life was simpler in those days. 🙂

Would be very mean to drop Jared after he appeared on the cast album. He's wonderful in the show.

So odd that this transfers and Carrie, Eugenius, Be More Chill, Dogfight, Big Fish, Falsettos and Titanic don’t.
I suppose it’s all to do with the producers on board. I found it rather average and weird. Still good luck to them!

Excellent news. Does anyone know if this is bookable from anywhere with seat selection? The Criterion booking system is not fun.

Excellent news. Does anyone know if this is bookable from anywhere with seat selection? The Criterion booking system is not fun. They’ve explained it’s due to adding social distancing so I’d assume not. (I assume it is dynamic but not as dynamic as nimax maybe?)

Good news but disappointing that seat selection is not possible. I enjoyed Amelie at The Other palace but to see it again at the Criterion for me it's "front row or no go". All the other shows I've booked recently up to September manage to combine social distancing with the ability to choose a seat, even if only as part of a bubble.
It's also a confusing booking system, took me several attempts to be offered a seat anywhere. Hope it won't affect ticket sales too much but I'm leaving it for now.

Ring the Criterion (it's what we did) and we got basically the seats we were after.

Not user friendly.

It's better, but in my view unfortunate that the NIMAX system hasn't been adopted by more theatres while social distancing remains necessary. All unsold seats available to be selected, then instant revision after each booking.

I certainly agree with you that Nimax's is the best by far, just saying that there is a slightly nicer way to book tickets for this show than the clunky Criterion website!

Still good luck to them! All to do with money. I believe Amelie was planning a return to The Other Palace for last Christmas, they certainly have been trying for a while. I wonder what will reopen The Other Palace, as I understand it Be More Chill is long gone.
