Yes, the sticking point is Mr Grammer, nice man and all.Am still going to see it to tick it off the list but imagine if a Bryn Terfel or Colm Wilkinson was booming it out instead?

Oh come on it's not that bad. Kelsey has great presence and decent harmonies with the understudy for Danielle. I'm looking forward to it,

It seems the times I can easily go would be Danielle, if she were to be ill would Cassidy cover or would it be someone else do you think?

Why are the two ladies sharing the role?

I feel like it's reasonably common in the "higher brow" art-forms to role-share, and as Danielle de Niese is an operatic soprano, it may well have been something that she wanted.

I keep seeing the poster on Facebook and going, "THAT'S MEERA SYAL! Wait..."
I only know KG for two things - Anastasia, and the sex tape fiasco.

Why are the two ladies sharing the role? Ms de Niese said something in an interview about preparing for a role at Glyndebourne, so she's gradually doing less of La Mancha as the Glyndebourne role ramps up.

I guess that depends on whether Cassidy has other commitments on that day. I only have one chance to see the show (and it will happen only if they discount) and it won't be Cassidy who I was hoping to catch. But I've already booked so many other shows for my one week in May!

Had the best offer so far on this show, half price for the first two evening performances and the first Wednesday matinee Reasonable but not great seats, though it was sent out 8 hours before I looked so a lot probably already sold
Tempted but I really want a central front row seat, currently £105, for half price or less so hoping for more similar deals

ENO should extend the Access All Arias scheme to productions like this
Even if it were just to purchase day tickets or something
Better to get bums on seats

I agree but I'm not sure how much is ENO and how much is the producers.
I suspect the producers are waiting for a dozen or so of 5 star* reviews and then it will be box office gold
*perhaps the band 5star would of sold better than our Kelsey?

A good offer for the week following reviews would make more sense - then they can use the reviews and good or even sold out houses to sell the rest!

Its shaping up to be a horror show. The very limited run means even fantastic reviews (unlikely!) will have little effect.

Regardless of the reviews I really don't think the show has any widespread appeal. The only thing that would have sold in IMO is a major star name e.g. Hugh Jackman.

Given what we’ve seen so far I suspect it’s unlikely to get 5 star reviews.

I met someone who’s going to see this the other day. Her friend forced her into it and she hates both of the leads. I feel sorry for her.

Very disappointed to see so many negative comments about a show weeks before it has opened, many made by people who have presumably never seen it, or Kelsey Grammer live on stage.
Man of la Mancha will probably not attract massive audiences but is a wonderful musical which we are lucky to see performed, accompanied by the glorious ENO orchestra.
It is totally misguided to presume the lead role has to be 'sung'(suggestion of Bryn Terfel for heaven's sake!) but has to be put across by a fine actor. Many who saw Kelsey in 'Big Fish' would feel he fits the bill.
Lonny Price always comes up with interesting productions of these semi-staged musicals so there is much to look forward to.

I wonder how many people would say the things the say to people’s faces. Everyone’s entitled to opinions (and agree to disagree) , but it’s getting a tad poisonous or school yard bitchy for a show that hasn’t even had its first preview. But hey ho...what do I know (As usual)
