Israel was dreadful. And does she swear in it? I know we don't have a cat in hells chance but our song is pretty good. I heard her sing it live a couple of weeks ago and she is pretty impressive. It's all too serious now. I miss the old days with dancing grannies and girls churning butter on stage.

I was hoping Czech Republic would bring the camel from his video on stage. That would have won it for sure!

I too thought she sang "mother f****r"!!!!!

I don’t watch the heats, the final is enough of a commitment. Would have loved to be in beautiful Lisbon for it though. I gather Mel Giedroyc got dropped from the bbc coverage in favour of Rylan Clarke? Mel was not dropped. She was working - I thought this was a Theatre Board. She is doing our scores on Saturday night. As I said, I would’ve loved a Rylan and Mel combination or better still a Mel and Graham combination on Saturday night.

There is bonkers and then there is bonkers. And then there is Israel 2018. It is too many ideas crammed into one song. She is a talented performer but the song needed taking apart and putting back together. The pseudo-Japanese setting clashes with the content (and is considered offensive by some), the chicken noises are just there to get attention, the overall message of the song is supposed to be #MeToo related but does come off has very negative in places. I really despise it on so many levels. Israel has sent some good songs over the years. This isn't one of them.

I agree that it's definitely out there, but having seen the official video for the song, it seems they have taken it much more over the top for the actual show. I prefer the version in the video that isnt quite so over the top, and makes more sense (except the chicken noises...)

I stumbled across this by chance last night and from the little bit I saw, for me as a singable/humable song the Irish entry stood out the most.
Purely for its simplicity- and the falling snow.
Just a man, a guitar and a piano, without the distraction of strobe lighting or lasers.
Yes, the dancers helped portray the story of the song, but (in my opinion) it propably could have worked equally as well without them.

Denmark - very MT - but singing was frequently flat (particular the lead singer)

Russia - weak in all aspects: singing, backing singing, song, staging, design, sound mixing, choreography. Just weak. If they get through it is on political voting and nothing to do with the quality of the act

Moldova - fun, slick staging, mad song - but who cares, it is still entertaining!

Netherlands - no. Just no. Song and dance are just too far apart stylistically.

Poland - certain to qualify - but some poor vocals and another visual disconnect between look and genre of song

Malta - there is probably a decent song in there somewhere. But it is all a bit confused. High collar on her was not a good look

Moldova and Denmark my favourites so far (but it's not a great night so far). Moldova were obviously auditioning for a musical farce. Denmark for Game of Thrones.
