I've booked for both this and Red. I may regret my haste though, I've gone for back of the stalls and I suspect the back row of the dress circle will become available for a tenner in the not-too-distant future, based on Labour of Love and other previous MGC productions. Still, it's a tenner, I'm sure if I end up booking myself into the dress circle, I'll find someone willing to relieve me of my stalls seat.

Well that’s me booked! Many thanks to demonbarber and Rory for the heads up. 2018 is looking to be an excellent year! (I do hope I’ve not put anyone off booking... My initial comment about the squeamish was aimed at more delicate types who might prefer Cornish landscapes with a certain gent with his top off thrown in for good measure! )

it’s very gory... torture, blood (lots) and cut up bodies piled up on the stage. At the Noel Coward? Doesn't seem right somehow. "I will accept anything in the theatre . . . provided it amuses or moves me. But if it does neither, I want to go home." It will amuse you...! I promise.

Booked a bargain £10 seat, great star to to Black Friday. Ditto! Also booked for Red at £10. With those and my visit for Harry Potter (cast no. 3), that's my Summer break in London sorted!

So for those who have no idea who the delicious dreamboat Mr Turner is, let me introduce you to him. For those who absolutely know who the delicious dreamboat Mr Turner is, don't ever let anyone say that I'm not good to you. Seriously, does anyone care what this play is about? And you're welcome.

Flexing his pecs for all he’s worth in that gif, bless ‘im,
I have not booked for this yet as I foolishly suggest the mate who owes me more than £100 book it for us, rather than adding to her ticket debt. Only she obviously hasn’t seen the suggestion yet and now I’m wishing I’d just gone ahead!

I well remember seeing a production of this in LA - starring Chris Pine, who was excellent! - and the raked stage was so blood-smeared that the actors had to cling to each other at the final bows to keep from slipping on the gore. Got a big laugh from the audience. I saw it there, too. It was my first experience of a McDonagh play and I had no idea what I was about to see. {Spoiler - click to view}When the lights came up on that final scene -- with the blood and body parts strewn all over the stage -- it was so ridiculously over-the-top that I had to laugh. Which was the whole point. Loved it so much, I went back to see it again and have been a diehard McDonagh fan ever since. (Saw Three Billboards last week, and it's terrific, too.) But now I have a choice to make... Well, since you asked: Do I time my next visit to London to see A. Turner in Lieutenant? Or go a bit later in the year and see J. Broadbent in A Very Very Very Dark Matter? Oh, who am I kidding? The choice is as clear as the gifs in this thread.

Ok, booked a couple of £10 seats back of the circle (H6, H7, seat reviews said they were good) - Mr Poldark is easy on the eye though not the greatest actor in the world (I gave up on Poldark after whatsisface drowned in the mineshaft), but I do like the writer so for £10 a ticket...

Fab, fab, fab news. Love this play, and so looking forward to seeing it again. Sat in the Gods for it, so bit different from my Stratford visit to the original.

Does anyone else think Aiden Turner has a disproportionally small head?

Probably why he's so far been more successful on TV, big heads are better for theatre. Still not sure I'm buying him as a 21 year old, but glad he's had a haircut. Anything that stops me being constantly reminded of the dreadful Hobbit movies is a positive step in my opinion!

Asking for my wife -
Is there animal cruelty in this play? Photo looks slightly ominous.

{Spoiler - click to view} Yes. Sorry. The cat actors are presumably well-treated, but the plot is kicked off by the discovery of a dead cat, and depending on how closely Grandage is adhering to the stage directions, there's another dead cat by the end and it's pretty shockingly done, I don't see the audience enjoying it very much. That said, there is a greater deal of human suffering in the play, but I fully sympathise with anyone who doesn't mind that so much (and just likes cats better than people).

Well I have to say that I thought this was outstanding- things didn’t start off well (I had a £10 seat on the side of the grand circle and the view was pretty terrible but thankfully about 4 or 5 seats were left unsold and I could move to the one nearest the stage, which while not perfect was an infinite improvement) - I would still say I preferred The Beauty Queen Of Leenane but I would definitely rank this second in the McDonagh plays I’ve seen in the West End. Incredibly violent and not one to see if you get remotely upset about the thought of bad things happening to cats, but I loved it : I found it both funny and moving (and for those concerned about such things, you get to see Aidan Turner wearing a vest)

I could move to the one nearest the stage, I've booked AA2 for a date in August which seems to be the one nearest the stage in the Grand Circle slips - is that the one you were in? I'm hoping it's ok!
