Pretty intrigued about this too. I wonder if they haven't given away one of the stories with the photo on the website. The rehearsal image of the lady holding the mirror looks like it could be the end of the Eye Of The Beholder episode. If that's the case, the story has lots of relevance today, but I wonder how they'll make it work without the twist being immediately obvious. Hi! I'm posting from the future! It's now January 2019 and I've been reading this thread, having bought tix for the show in May. I happened to see Eye of the Beholder (for the millionth time) during the TZone traditional New Year marathon. What struck me about it was not the surprise ending but the dialogue and the mood. There's a dreadful loneliness, desperation and fierce lines like (I paraphrase) "If I had a face like that I'd bury myself in a graveyard." Nurses were scary to kids in the early 1960s; so this kind of cruel strike only furthered that horror.

I enjoyed this - I thought the shifts in tone were fine as they reflected the various types of story the show would do. I watch a lot of archive TV, however not seen a single episode of The Twilight Zone since (I think) Channel 4 repeated it in the late 80s. So an odd choice of show to base this on (my understanding is this was commissioned by the Almeida?) as the original series isn't that well known over here. Did occur to me they would have been better off basing it on Tales of the Unexpected then I remembered that was done a few years ago! The cigarette thing is presumably a reference to the fact the show was sponsored by Chesterfield Cigarettes in the US - although of course the sponsorship segments wouldn't have been shown over here.

Is there a list of episodes used in the play? Looks like it's only using the original series and the the 2 reboots. In the thread I have: Eye Of The Beholder (Nov 1960), The Shelter (Sept 1961), The Astronaut(?) and Man Who Could Sleep (?) What are the other 4?

Hi All, I see the running time in 2017 was 2 and a half hours. Is it the same for the current production? Thanks.

Whoever said this is simply not good enough was right. One has to feel sorry for the talented, versatile cast - it’s awful. Feels as though someone gave a student drama group a bit of money to take their Edinburgh fringe show to the West End.

Eek. A Richard Jones that I quite liked. Must be softening in my old age?
This is really not selling very well. Swathes of empty rows.
Like others have said, my problem with it is the length, its just more of the same. I think less plot and a running time of 1hr30.
'the shelter' really stood out and I can see it is on youtube. Jackpot. that's my evening sorted.

I saw it this afternoon and enjoyed it greatly. Not a life-changing experience but quite an enjoyable show. The auditorium was literally EMPTY though. There were maybe 50 of us. I can't imagine how i must feel when you're an actor and see so many empty rows in front of you... They did a great job though.

I'd put off seeing this because of the mixed reviews and I don't know why. It was really well done.
Very much like the TV series, with the unexplained and the tangents and the different threads linking together. A lot of moments of suspense and even some horror thrown in.
The theatre was far from full and I found I'd been upgraded to what I presume was a Stalls Premium seat and I was able to shift along a few positions for a clear view. I was originally booked near the front, but it is a very high stage. The crowd was nicely spread out though, so hopefully it looked alright to the cast.
Had a nice chat with a gentleman nearby who is an American producer and looking for the rights to take this over there. He knew all the episodes the play was based on, as The Twilight Zone is an institution over there, repeated continually and these are some of the most famous episodes. I can see this working really well over there.
We did have one of my pet peeves, a woman treating a huge amount of this as a comedy. There were some funny moments, but the sudden laughs from a few rows behind rather ruin the suspense.
I know it's closing soon, but if you like suspense and sci-fi, this is worth seeing. My 15 pounds TodayTix ticket was well worth the money.
