From Instagram it seems Ainsley Melham was Aladdin and Isabella Mccalla was Jasmine. Jafar was Jonathan Freeman. Genie was Trevor Dion Nicholas from the London cast.

Wondering if this will go to Disney's new streaming platform? Also- maybe that's the plan for Mary Poppins as well.. www.filmedonstage.com/news/44-west-end's-aladdin-filmed-for-future-worldwide-release!

I'd assumed that would be the case. Particularly given the success of Hamilton. Aladdin might not have been as popular a show in the theatre but it fits in with the D+ target market a bit more neatly and it makes sense to capitalise on Hamilton's success.

The tweet was removed lol but Trevor Dion Nicholas (Genie) tweeted "September ain't just my favourite song anymore 🤐" with a Genie gif underneath. Safe to assume we can probably expect it in September x

So interestingly if you go onto the Apple TV app on your iPhone and search Aladdin, you will find a result for the recorded production of Aladdin on Disney Plus with a new promotional image. If you click on it you get redirected to the Disney Plus app but then it just says that the file cannot be found. I would expect an announcement for this very soon!

Casting for Aladdin (the character) has always been odd.

I’m looking forward to this, but does anyone else think it’s odd that they are selling it as the Broadway musical? Filmed in the UK, cast from the US, UK and Oz AFAICT. Why not badge it as “the global phenomenon”? Just feels a bit like they are taking a very US-centric view.

The Newsies recording is also called “The Broadway Musical” but was filmed in Los Angeles.

Americans also can't see past Broadway as the home of musicals. If it wasn't a hit on Broadway... it might as well not exist.

To be fair I think "Dancing with Scimitars" worked better than whatever the Strictly reference they tried to shoehorn in was.

That lead is NOT my idea of Aladdin at all. Aladadin Haha, that response is gold! I saw the OC on Broadway and remember looking at the pictures in front of the theatre and wondering how the could hire such an old (looking?) guy to play Aladdin. Fortunately we had cheap seats and were so far in the back of the theatre that we hardly noticed during the show. ^^ With closeups and 4K picture this is going to look very strange though...

Our Aladdins were practically foetuses compared to him....DJW and Matthew Croke at least both had a youthfulness that belied their actual ages but that guy looks like he should be running a pizza stand for Tony Soprano.

Weirdly enough, this is the cast that was filmed. The Aladdin here looks more young than the advertised poster?? He does. Perhaps we’ve mistaken a different mid 40’s character for the actual Aladdin. I repent.
