I've seen online that apparently there are costumes that have been changed.....I forgot to pay enough attention to them in London so can't really see the difference!! Bit of a mundane question, perhaps, but do you know what they are? And hazard a guess as to why?

I've seen online that apparently there are costumes that have been changed.....I forgot to pay enough attention to them in London so can't really see the difference!! Bit of a mundane question, perhaps, but do you know what they are? And hazard a guess as to why? I can indeed, I even tweeted about it (I’m nerdy about costumes haha) From what I can tell from the Perestroika curtain call pictures Louis’ outfit is slightly changed for the end of the play- different coat, jumper, he’s got his glasses on. Likewise Belize has slightly different outfit as does Hannah. All really minor ones. Big difference is (predictably) Lee Pace whose Joe outfit at the end is entirely different (and presumably across the board quite different) So for Joe obviously having a new actor meant costume tweaks. And they all got a fair bit of say in it- so for example Andrew Garfield didn’t like his original “f*** You I’m a Prophet” outfit so he picked other ones from a selection (his understudy actually ended up with the original- in part through fluke of saying he liked x y and z pieces) As for why, partly practicality maybe- some of the costumes were no doubt a bit worn out by the end. Some of the actors probably also requested some changes- for comfort quick changes etc And some of the creative team may have never liked them! (Sorry that’s long, I’m nerdy about costume)

All I took away from that interview was that I had a chance with Lee Pace and his knee-tremblingly lovely eyebrows.

Three Joes spotted in the wild last night (all fully clothed before anyone asks... Speaking of Joe, there's a nice little charity fundraiser going on via one of Lee Pace's fan sites, collecting for BCEFA for opening/his Birthday, which is quite sweet. donate.broadwaycares.org/team/160965( BurlyBeaR charity links are allowed right? if not sorry and delete)

Have started watching an interview on youtube with Denise called actors aloud, which is interesting it she mentioned next year She will be doing a classic play where she will be alternating a character with a man. Sounds very exciting and hopefully it will be in London, am already looking forward to it a lot.

Ben Brantley had a good time. "Sometimes, just when you need it most, a play courses into your system like a transfusion of new blood. You feel freshly awakened to the infinite possibilities not only of theater but also of the teeming world beyond. And when you hit the streets afterward, every one of your senses is singing."

And rightly so. It’s an absolute phenomenon of a piece. And I’m so happy for all of them

Got a week off work, so between doing a mini tour of the north of the country and no real soccer on, knowing that AIA is opening this weekend, treated myself by watching the HBO series again, which I enjoyed immensely.
Looks like I be seeing this again in May.
Interesting looking at the reviews and the ones I noted were all raves, which to be frank I didn’t expect anything less, if it was like the Nation’s production. However The one I don’t expect to be so good and it’s behind a paywall and that is the Regan/Trump loving Wall Street Journal? I am not going to give them one dime to read it.

The Tony rulings have been announced, they aren't gonna put Nathan in Lead as it had been much discussed on other boards. Andrew is obviously in Lead. So they won't be against eachother.

Quite right too. Garf is the lead, all of the others should be in supporting. That does also strike me as a way of giving Nathan the best chance of winning the Tony. He certainly wouldn't win it as Lead, he could very well do it as Featured though. They do love the Lane-ster on Broadway.

Well thats interesting. Nathan, Andrew and James all recieved Drama Desk nominations, but James placed in Lead alongside Andrew. I mean obviously I'm pleased for my marvelous boy. But also in any other play what he has would be considered 'leading actor' material, so it's interesting it's historically been bumped down to 'supporting' (understandable because it would be very rare to have 2 leading nominations anyway) and that Roy gets bumped up to 'lead actor' sometimes, usually lets be honest due to who is in the role. It is at least one bonus of the seemingly endless awards season in NY that we get a variety! Denise being nominated there for PPT rather than Angels is a nice one too. Also the leading actor category is almost all Brits/British imports.
