Just checked today tix and I can get Stalls row D for £42.50. Looks like it's the second row back. Theatremonkey is this too close?? Or am I grabbing a bargain?

Sticking my two penn'orth in - first time I was in the 3rd row and personally I found it too close, I'm about 5 foot 2 and felt I had to look up to the stage a bit. Second time I was about 8 rows back and preferred that.

That being said, I'm sure I was 2 or 3 rows back when I went before. Will keep my eye on it. Thanks ruby :-)

Couldn't resist one final visit last night. Have seen the show four times in total and I swear every time it just gets better and better. Charlie Stemp really is brilliant, I can't wait to see what he does next (after panto!)

Have seen the show four times in total and I swear every time it just gets better and better. Although I personally didn't much care for Half a Sixpence (my reasons are given – at length – in my comments on the theatremonkey website) I am greatly heartened to hear how much other dedicated theatre-goers enjoy repeated visits to that show and others that they love. I felt at my fifth visit to 42nd Street last night that it too is getting better and better and I am always sorry in some ways when a musical closes and the performers are out of a job. I just made a similar comment on the AAIP thread (another show that disappointed me) but if fans are getting pleasure out of repeated visits then all I can say is 'hooray' – after all, it's why we are all members of this website!

I wish this was running for an extra week so I could make the last performance, I imagine the energy and atmosphere will be electric.

Well you are peer-pressured to go to the show tonight with daniel, even though you are going to the final performance on Saturday.

Young being the operative word - I believe he'll very much have his time, and without wanting to sound too much like a pretentious d*ck, Phil Connors is a far more complex role to successfully portray which of course Andy Karl did, and then some!

Both amazing roles for both performers, either deserved to win. Both shows are two of my favourites of 2016 so I'm happy how it turned out, but I would of preferred Charlie simply for the fact it was an amazing leading man debut.

Finally took the plunge on this after the infamous website dynamic pricing threw up the legendary D25 in the Royal Circle for £14.75 - money well spent! It's a great seat, an absolute steal at that price, far better than sitting up in the balcony or even at the back of the stalls.
As for the show... I'm glad I've seen it, I liked it, I didn't love it. A bit too "ey-up guvnor 'ows yer father" for me, perhaps. I had issues with the plot in the same way that someone did about 30 pages back - there's little motivation for why Charlie suddenly decides he does love Anne after all, and why his besottedness with Helen comes to an abrupt end, other than the prospect of his future mother-in-law! The first half drags somewhat (the people in front of me had a wonderful conversation that I totally agreed with - "you get into it a bit, and you think you're enjoying it for a while, and then I'm like 'I'm a bit bored now'"). The second half picks up, with the better songs and a much tighter storyline. And the last 20 minutes is really enough to erase any of the boredom from earlier on, and I certainly left with a smile on my face.
As everyone else has said, the cast is excellent - Charlie Stemp has the makings of a real star, and I hope he can transfer the charisma he has here to another vehicle. Emma Williams is lovely, and not given enough to do (I was waiting for a big eleven o'clock ballad near the end) and Devon-Elise Johnson is charming and sings beautifully. My only criticism of both of them isn't really aimed at them, more the piece - that the accents they are forced to put on for the show prevents them from really singing out and showing their full range and power, which is a shame.
Overall, it's a good production of a decent, if flawed show. I'm very glad I caught it before it closed.

Something I never really noticed until I saw it the other day, Devon has a lovely belt, id love to hear her do more of that in the future.
And I still think Emma should at least get a reprise of Believe in Yourself at the end when Charlie leaves her, giving her hope unto what she will go onto and giving the audience more satisfaction in the end of her story. And the oppertuniry to hear Emma really go for it vocally, because we all know she has that in her!

Live filming signs on the doors and around the theatre for tonight! Might just be for archive or promo if it ever goes on tour. But would be wonderful if for DVD or TV

To say the atmosphere in here is electric is an understatement! Sold out, with the back of the Upper full of people standing! As soon as the announcement was over, a solid 30 second of just applause and cheering before the Overture began, Charlie getting entrance applause and alot of responses and ovations after every number! The two girls duet on the pier literally stopped the show in its tracks from the audience response. Wow, what a final show!

I mean, that is how you close a show! Four standing ovations, three midway through Act II. The two big numbers in Act II were thrilling, clapping along, cheering, it was deafening, the energy in that room was truly thrilling. Also bursts of applause at significant moments throughout, Emma getting emotional in her final scene, and Charlie clearly moved at curtain call. Cameron and Stiles and Drew came on to thank the cast, crew and audience, as well as praise Charlie and saying he knew he was a star at his first audition. They then danced with the cast as the titles came down. A thrilling night I wont forget anytime soon. Will probably have more to say later, but I'll leave it with that haha. I just hope we see this production, as Cameron said, live on in the near future.

Nice to know that Half a Sixpence went out with a bang tonight, mainly for the hard-working cast, but it was not a show that I enjoyed. My lengthy comments can be found on the theatremonkey website. Now I am greatly looking forward to seeing the talented and personable Charlie Stemp in the Palladium Panto and hoping he will have a better character to play than the gormless Kipps.

Dare say he'll be forever grateful to gormless Kipps for giving him a one in a million chance to show us all his boundless talents. (And possibly to Bryan Dick who was first announced in the role in Chichester. Not forgetting Cam Mack who had the foresight to pluck this lad out of the chorus of a Mamma Mia touring production...) Definitely looking forward to seeing him again in January, and hope he'll be around for many years to come.

Yes, Bryan Dick did the revival of Hobsons Choice which went into the West End. He was either contracted or chose to and the dates clashed. Kipps is a star vehicle and can make star which hopefully it will do for Charlie! Such is the luck of this business we call show!
There are lots of revivals of musicals that Charlie would be ideal for - Me & My Girl, Crazy For You, Barnum, Billy etc. He needs to create a role in a new hit musical ideally...

I agree that he'd be superb for any of the shows you name, but I reckon he's got more in him than just 'cheeky chappy'. (I imagine his Dick will be that role too...!) Let's hope someone can come up with something that'll show a different side to him.

Camerons speech... you can just imagine how loud the audience was considering this was them at their quietest!
