There's, like, three days when it closes for Christmas then a ten day gap between Follies and Amadeus. That's not even half a month, let alone most of two.

Yeah 10 days between shows isn't that unusual at the Nash. There may be the odd special event or whatnot in there too that isn't up yet/isn't public etc.

How disappointing! When I read the title, I thought that maybe Rufus was holding some thrilling secret announcement back for a Christmas surprise: a new Jez Butterworth with Mark Rylance, Robert Icke doing Aeschylus' The Persians, some august name from the National's past returning...McKellen or Finney in John Gabriel Borkman, perhaps, or a big Hollywood name (Streep, Weaver, Malkovich) coming over in some American classic. Oh, well. One can but dream. Let's hope the Almeida has something exciting for us on Monday.

The entire building is closed on Sat 23 Dec but reopens on Boxing Day Bank Holiday. Monday 4 Dec is dark in the Olivier, presumably to clear away all vestiges of Saint George and the Dragon who enjoy their final encounters on Sat 2 Dec. Otherwise, Olivier has performances every day except Sunday for the two months. |
