Hi all, some help please! So I booked a cheap ticket for this ages ago (STALLS SEAT A1) but now considering buying a different seat to have a better view. Anyone ever sat at the extreme ends of the stalls at the front? My friend is in this and and I don't want to miss anything but I don't mind being super close and having to look up. What do you guys reckon?

Yes, I've checked it. It faces a black stage front wall that you have to peer up and over to see the stage. Not much legroom either. Two seats along, the wall drops to orchestra pit height. Ah ok, I'm going to try to acquire a better seat! Thank you!

Really looking forward to the show tonight! Samantha Barks is the main draw for me, but also looking forward to hearing the score, having only heard a song or two.

I'd wear my badge but I've a feeling it was in my purse when I tipped the contents into a homeless blokes hand. Oops.

I wanted to go especially with a few offers out there and seeing Mr Lipkin. But far too late at the disco last night and now I'm fit for nothing. I really should act my age and realise I don't have the stamina anymore.

Left my ticket on the mantle shelf so will have to pick up a duplicate when I get there! Last time I checked, Stalls and Upper Circle were pretty well sold, Dress Circle less so, but probably too many people on the top deck to close it and move them down.

Well that was fun! Score a bit old fashioned but nice and bouncy. Corny lyrics (Beyonce rhyming with fiancée) but a stronger second half with everyone comfortable in the concert version plus an Elvis number to rival the Pharaoh in Joseph Very enjoyable and silly show. I'd cut the number about Donna though. Arthur Darvill and Samantha Barks very good in the leads. Maxwell Caulfield can't sing but he did ok.

Really enjoyed that (favourite rhyme 'rottener' and 'gotten her!) - thought the cast were fabulous. Yes, Max C was a little underpowered but not painfully so, while for me the standouts were Arthur Darvill and Simon Lipkin (though Rosemary Ashe did her best to steal the show). I didn't know the score at all but played by the LMTO at their ebullient best, it sounded fantastic - I think I've been rather spoiled for any lesser musical production of it!

Yes Simon Lipkin was excellent too. Had to finish the previous post as my train pulled into my station!

I agree, that was a lot of fun! I knew nothing about it, have never seen the film or previously heard the score. It was almost too cheesy at times but the story is ridiculous so it somehow works. I thought the leads were all great in their own ways - agree Maxwell Caulfield can't really sing but he played the character well. In contrast Sam Barks sang beautifully but I kept hoping for a bit more from her acting - her solos were great on both fronts but in the duets I thought she could have done more in terms of interacting with whoever she happened to be singing with/to at the time instead of playing it out into the audience quite so much, but maybe the direction was to blame more than her. I thought Arthur Darvill got both the singing and acting, and the comedy for that matter, spot on - he and Simon Lipkin were the standouts for me. The Elvis bits had me in stitches, as did Rosemary Ashe for pretty much the whole time she was on stage! A hugely enjoyable evening overall, the orchestra was superb and Mr Jason Robert Brown himself on piano at the end rounded it all off nicely

Absolutely blown away by this amazing cast. Not sure I'd want to see a fully staged production, but Jason Robert Brown sure knows how to write some catchy tunes. Hoping for more concerts with the LMTO.

Agree with all comments above. Very funny, lots of comedy and loved how Arthur Darvill played to the audience; he was very engaging, great voice, great comic timing. Sam Barks has wonderful vocals but I felt she needed to bring an extra something to the performance. I bought my ticket because of Simon Lipkin, he's a huge presence on stage and out sang everyone else (my opinion). His flying Elvis was the stuff of legends. Rosemary Ashe was superb. Nicholas Colicos was another who engaged the audience with his performance. Big mentions to Richard James-King as the guy trying to find flights to Vegas-via-Atlanta! Maisey Bawden as Mahi and Hywel Dowsel as Teihutu, both perfomances the audience really enjoyed.
Maxwell Caulfield did pretty well. I can't remember what I saw him in previously and hated, so was dreading his performance, but he did OK.
Great evening.

I must agree with all of the above too, a fantastic night, I am so glad I went! A fantastic cast, with Samantha, Arthur, Maisey, Rosemary and Simon being the highlights. A fun and playful script that the audience lapped up, and a stunning socre which was pretty magical to be heard played not only by the LMTO but also conducted by Jason Robert Brown himself. It was truly magical to be heard. To see him conduct, have a piano and a ukulele solo, it was a pretty stellar night, Special shoutout to anything Rosemary and Simon, Maisey's song that ended up sending a book stand across the stage, and the audience, who were totally up for it! We were in the Upper and it was about 80% full, very responsive too. At curtain call, this is easily one of the loudest audience responses I have seen. And, from what I could see of the other two levels as well as the Upper, the cast, musicians and Jason got three standing ovations at curtain call and deservedly so. Such a great night, I wanna see it again haha!

Wow, there were a lot of us there! I'm like everyone else, loved it!!! The OBCR is one of my most-played CDs so to see it live, with this sensational cast and JRB - I was in fantasyland!
Yes, Arthur Darville was fabulous, as was Samantha Barks. Her "Anywhere But Here" in the first act gave me chills. Simon Lipkin, as was to be expected, stole the show every moment he was onstage and his Flying Elvis was a hoot. Perhaps Maxwell Caulfield doesn't have the greatest voice - neither did the role's originator, Tony Danza - but he played the part to perfection. I was impressed with him and with the very funny Nic Colicos as his henchman.
All of the second act Hawaii scenes worked like a dream. Maisie Bawden was hilarious as Mahi - the Friki-Friki duet with the squirming Darville was an absolute highlight - they even made knocking over a music stand work for them. And kudos to the trio who made the airport scene so great. Oh, and Rosemary Ashe, wonderful.
Have I named everybody? I could do so because everybody on stage was great. What a show by JRB and the LMTO. Candide is next, in July.

I agree with all of the above. An unbelievably enjoyable night. I immediately and ungrudgingly joined in with all 3 standing ovations at the curtain call! Arthur Darvill was a surprise to me and I'd heard his voice on the Once clips they released, and thought that while he sounded very good his voice wasn't perhaps the strongest. Pah, I was wrong. He was excellent. Please let's have him in another musical soon?! Samantha Barks' voice is really powerful and I enjoyed her a lot it this, but as others have said, Simon Lipkin really stole the show. What a talent. JRB is one of my personal theatrical icons so I loved having him conduct/play a bit of piano and ukelele! And of course the whole of LMTO is fabulous and I love how they have some up and coming musicians playing alongside the experienced pros. What a fun show all round. Shame it had such a disappointing run on Broadway. I'll definitely be buying the cast album now though!

I was Honeymooning last night too, glad everyone enjoyed it! I thought it was a wonderful night, the orchestra were sublime and the cast fantastic, especially Arthur Darvil, Sam Barks and the glorious Mr Lipkin. I'm afraid I found Maxwell Cauldfield the weak link, especially his singing. He was so unprepared too, I know they all had scripts/music but most managed a discreet glance now and again - he was literally reading it (and misreading it at times)! Quite funny when the music stand went over, I thought we were going to have a Play That Goes Wrong moment there. A treat to have JRB there too. Quite a special night.

Gosh we were all there weren't we? haha I really enjoyed if not quite loved it. Really liked all the cast, though Maxwell Caulfield's voice was actually fine for the character he was playing. I'd never seen Arthur Darvil before and now consider myself very much a fan. Really liked Sam Barks. Simon Lipkin can do no wrong in my eyes, always a joy to watch. Was pretty special to have JRB conduct and briefly play the ukulele, then the piano at the end, wow! It's a really fun show with a excellent score, i'd definitely like to see a fully staged production, if only for the flying Elvi

I have had the Finale song on repeat ever since (Sam and Arthur sang it better though, in my opinion!). But as said, this really was a fantastic night!
